RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will assist the Head Softball Coach and other staff in maintaining a successful NCAA Division I softball program, while assisting the Athletic Department in achieving the goals for student-athlete development. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruitment of student-athletes; development of the team/players by coaching (emphasis with infield and outfield development); build positive social skills; assist with camps/clinics; administrative duties; and perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned Bachelor’s degree by appointment date;
• At least one year of collegiate softball coaching experience;
• Commitment to promote an atmosphere of compliance to institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations;
• Effective communication (oral, written, and interpersonal) skills;
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
• Proven career path.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, Department of Pharmacy Practice at South Dakota State University is seeking applicants for an Associate Dean for Research. This position is responsible for the administration and management of all aspects of research within the College. This person is a member of the College’s Executive Team, reporting to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions, and will receive an academic appointment within one of the College’s three Departments. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, non-faculty exempt position and is located in Brookings, South Dakota.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Dean for Research is responsible for developing a coordinated strategy for focused research in the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions. This person will serve as a lead contact representing the College to external research agencies and labs, and as a liaison to the SDSU Office of Research and Economic Development.

As Associate Dean for Research, expectations are based on these approximate percentages of responsibilities:
• (50%) Leadership of research initiatives within the College.
• (20%) Maintain an active and productive research program.
• (25%) Instruction to support the academic programs of the College.
• (5%) Service contributions to the College, University, and professional discipline.

SPECIFIC ASPECTS OF DUTIES:
• Take the lead in the creation and implementation of an over-arching vision for research and scholarship within the College.
• Elevate the CPAHP vision and competitiveness for high level research funding.
• Cultivate faculty research and scholarship development, along with extramural funding opportunities.
• Champion and develop team science across and within departments.
• Assemble teams for high impact proposals and projects.
• Continuously learn and understand the research and practice landscape of the departmental disciplinary areas.
• Build external partnerships in academic, professional, and industry sectors.
• Increase visibility among agencies and other partners and potential partners.
• Promote the scholarship of teaching and learning.
• Systematizing post-award management across departments.
• Supervise the Grants Proposal Specialist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Terminal degree in discipline, including PhD or PharmD., by date of application.
• At least five years of experience as a faculty member in pharmacy or other health science discipline.
• A record of academic and scholarly achievements commensurate with the academic rank of associate or full professor per department standards and BOR policy requirements.
• Strong record of leading high-level funded university research.
• Documented experience of effective leadership.
• Effective written communication skills.
• Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• A valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• A willingness to travel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to assess outcomes of initiatives.
• Experience developing and implementing a strategic plan around research and scholarship.
• Recognized nationally or internationally in their field.
• The ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience working with faculty and staff to secure the funding needed to support and expand a research program.
• Ability to mentor faculty and staff members.
