Description of Job Duties:
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) provides support and supervision for all campus activities related to securing and managing external funding from grants. As the lead/supervising member of our team, the Director for the Office of Sponsored Programs’ primary duties are to:
Hire, train (initial and on-going), supervise and support OSP staff. (Currently up to three direct-reports: 1. the Pre-Award Specialist & Administrative Assistant (filled); 2. the Post Award Grants Manager (filled) and 3. the OSP Graduate Assistant (currently vacant).
Serve as trusted advisor and provide leadership, direction, and assistance for all campus activities related to seeking, securing, implementing and fulfilling obligations for grants, including: maintaining institutional eligibility; establishing PI/PD and project team eligibility and competency; identifying & selecting funding opportunities; proposal development; institutional approval; submission, award acceptance, project implementation, and reporting; and change requests and close out.
Throughout the entire grants cycle and beyond, support effective and efficient grant-related service from all OSP staff and any other relevant departments, especially Finance and Administration in support of accounting, billing, invoicing, draw-down, financial reporting and customer service to PI/PDs as related to grant budgets and financial reports.
Dedicate self to on-going professional development as needed to acquire and maintain status as the senior trusted advisor on all grant-related questions, especially for institutionally generated questions (as opposed to only those questions which come from PI/PD’s and their project teams.) Design, implement and ensure documentation of professional development plan/activities for OSP staff.
Ensure that all non-grant-related activities (admin assistance, bookkeeping, etc.) necessary for the smooth functioning of the office are performed effectively, efficiently and in a timely manner.
Provide planning, decisions, direction, and content for all on-line services, platforms and portals utilized by the OSP. Assist with grant related resources used by other groups on campus, such as RIO, IACUC and IRB.
Support direct reports in responding to simple or routine issues which arise throughout the grants cycle and beyond. Provide personalized and direct support to PI/PDs and other colleagues for complex or unique issues. Maintain the expertise and knowledge necessary to resolve these issues as effectively, efficiently and quickly as practical.
Fulfill “Authorized Organizational Representative” role, “Certifying Official” role and accept signatory permissions and responsibilities as determined appropriate by senior campus leadership. Serve as the university’s chief compliance officer for all active grant awards. Perform ongoing grant monitoring to ensure adherence to state, federal and institutional regulations and policies related to grants.
Serve as liaison to fund administrators for complex or sensitive issues which may arise related to grants in any phase.
Collaborate with direct reports and colleagues across campus to research, draft, develop, implement, enforce and/or improve institutionally consistent grants policies, procedures and best practices for ensuring internal controls over the full grants cycle and beyond.
Present reports to Executive Leadership Team, Deans’ Council, Board of Governors and University President. Promote positive image and mutually beneficial relationships for the OSP across campus and within the university community.
Occasionally serve on committees, attend campus events and otherwise contribute to the wider mission of the university.
Other duties as assigned including stepping in to perform any and all tasks necessary for supporting the university’s grants portfolio and grants community when other OSP staff are unable to fulfill their delegated responsibilities for any reason.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Associate Director is an influential member of the Residence Life staff and an active team member within the University community. The Associate Director serves an active role in envisioning and creating departmental initiatives. The Associate Director leads the development of inclusive and engaging communities that support and enhance the University's learning mission for approximately 900 residents. The Associate Director directly supervises one professional and 3 graduate hall directors, and provides indirect supervision to approximately 30 Resident Assistants. The Associate Director provides training and professional development to all Residence Life staff members. The Associate Director optimizes technologies to communicate with residents, to develop marketing materials, and to streamline administrative functions. The Associate Director reports directly to the Director of Residence Life and leads the department in the Director's absence. This is a full-time, live on required position. Housing, essential meals required to participate in quality control reviews and to enhance individual student engagement when Dining Services is open, and essential utilities will be provided. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or related field;
• Minimum one year of prior professional experience in residence life and record of staff supervision.
• Demonstrated experience being on-call for crisis response in a residential community.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive communities based on mutual respect.
• Demonstrated experience of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
• Demonstrated understanding of student development theory, community development practices, and ability to apply them in a residential setting.
• Proficiency in software systems for housing, door access, and other database systems.

• Develop and implement an encompassing and targeted assessment, marketing, and communication plan with the purpose of recruiting, educating, and supporting residential students.
• Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with the Dean of Students, Title IX staff, the Behavior Intervention Team, New Student Programs, Conference Services, Facilities, campus police, and other offices as needed. Serve as a Student Conduct Officer as needed and assist with the development and application of campus policies. Coordinate Residence Life responses to students in crisis or who need additional support, as appropriate.
• Serve as a visible role model to residents such as by visiting residential communities regularly and being present around campus.
• Seek feedback and assess student needs continuously in order to enhance Residence Life services and implement these improvements.
