Overview:

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer or Scientist who will focus on software and hardware development and integration, particularly for signal processing applications. This position resides in the Cyber Sensing and Analytics Group in the Cyber Resilience & Intelligence Division, National Security Sciences Directorate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). As part of our research team, you will perform research and development to identify candidate algorithms and implementations (both software and hardware) to process multi-channel signals in different environments across the Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DoD), and Intelligence Community (IC) mission areas. Your role will include side-channel analysis, radio frequency and acoustic signal analysis, and active/passive systems to extract and learn information from both fortuitous and designed signals. Our specific focus is towards the development of signal processing and analysis for cyber-physical systems security capabilities.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
• Review literature on algorithmic approaches and implementation
• Perform data acquisition, pre-processing, information extraction, and post-processing using existing algorithms
• Rapid prototyping of new signal processing algorithms & systems through the design, programming, testing, and demonstration stages
• Design and develop robust, user-friendly signal processing systems at higher TRLs for field deployments
• Work in a collaborative environment and represent ORNL well to external entities

Basic Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. or M.S. or B.S degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with coursework in signal processing and/or communications theory
• Knowledge of fundamental algorithms for signal decomposition, noise reduction, and signal detection/classification
• Understanding of signal processing algorithms sufficient to explore and implement new ideas and concepts to solve niche problems
• Experience with transducers/sensors and data acquisition platforms
