Facility Management actively manages and operates approximately 55 City-owned court and office buildings totaling 15 million square feet. These buildings are located throughout the City and include City Hall, the Manhattan and Brooklyn Municipal Buildings, and each of the five Borough Halls. This line of service provides all necessary building services to keep these buildings fully functional and operational. Mechanical Maintenance and Operations - responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and operation of the installed mechanical systems in the DCAS portfolio. This includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, plus backup electrical generators, fire suppression, and domestic water supply. Job responsibilities include: Operates, maintains, and adjusts boilers, furnaces, engines, pumps, heat exchangers, generators, motors, equipment for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and associated equipment in public buildings, municipal pumping stations and incinerators. Takes responsible charge of a watch and directs subordinate personnel. May operate control consoles in control rooms. Makes periodic inspections of equipment and minor repairs to such equipment. Job responsibilities include: The duties and responsibilities for a City Custodial Assistant include, but are not limited to: Under close supervision, performs work of ordinary difficulty in cleaning public buildings and their immediate grounds, performs related light labor duties. Sweeps, damp mops, and wet mops office floors, toilets, corridor, lobbies and other assigned floor areas. Cleans wash basins and other toilet room facilities. Washes walls by hand with a brush or by using an electric machine. Scrubs stairs and stair landings. Empties waste baskets and disposes of refuse. Vacuums rugs and carpets. Dusts, removes and cleans venetian blinds. Performs shoulder high and high dusting of walls.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements: There are no formal educational or experience requirements. There are certain medical and physical requirements.
