We are seeking a deputy news director at The Sydney Morning Herald.
The successful candidate will be a quick thinker with sharp news judgment and strong editing, rewriting and production skills. You will have the ability to manage complex and long-term projects as well as juggle multiple tasks at once to co-ordinate the coverage of breaking news events.
The job requires an ability to think laterally, spot legal red flags, and you will need to lead the Sydney newsroom when required. Reporting to the news director, the role also involves supporting them in the smooth running and management of a broad team, including doing some administration.

• Create and manage unique content across all platforms of The Sydney Morning Herald, with a primary focus on digital;
• Work closely with other topics, leading and executing key digital strategies;
