As part of the Sonos team, you'll... collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.
Sonos has had a distributed workplace from the start: our teams have always been made up of individuals in different timezones who leverage technology to work closely together despite physical distance. We have offices in Boston, Seattle, Santa Barbara, San Francisco & Paris. However, we believe that where you work is less important than the impact you make through your work. This role can be done from anywhere in the United States or Canada. If you want an in-office experience, any of our offices are open to you but you can also work remotely from home.
As a frontend engineer, you will be an integral part of a team delivering new products that bring value to Sonos Professional (aka. commercial) customers. You will build experiences that make it easier for system integrators to install Sonos and for business owners to manage their systems. You'll view shipping V1 as the start of a journey and will rapidly and continuously learn from our customers and iterate.
What You'll Do:
• Bring new and existing aspects of the Sonos experience to the browser.
• Collaborate with UX designers, providing them with engineering feedback that ultimately results in the conceptualization and specification of highly usable web application experiences.
• Work with backend engineers to design and document the APIs that support the frontend capabilities you are building
• Work in middleware layers to aggregate data from backend services and ensure access to that data is safe and secure
• Ensure the features you are building are maintainable: have appropriate unit, integration, and functional tests executable via automation, support appropriate levels of logging, and report usage and performance metrics
Skills You'll Need
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 2+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proven track record of shipping reliable, extensible and maintainable web applications.
• Strong knowledge of front end development using state of the art Javascript frameworks, HTML, CSS, and web application development tools.
• Degree in Computer Science, related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with modern declarative JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, and/or Vue.
• Experience with strong typing via TypeScript or Flow.
• Experience with technologies that support web applications: serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, apigateways, etc.
We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience and qualifications. This job is also eligible for discretionary bonuses as well as an opportunity to become a Sonos shareholder because all full time employees are eligible for stock grants. The minimum base pay may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting minimum base pay for this role is:

This role can be done from home
Building the world’s leading sound experience company starts with the experience we provide for our people. That’s why we’ve been distributed from the start: initially between offices in Boston & Santa Barbara, and now with additional offices in Seattle, San Francisco & Paris. This role can be done from anywhere in the United States or Canada - any of our offices, or remotely from home. It’s about impact, not location.
What You’ll Do:
As a member of the DTC Acquisition team, you will work cross-functionally with ecommerce, insights and analytics, marketing, and other enterprise functions to meet our aligned targets for landing new Sonos customers. You will have a deep understanding of both corporate and team acquisition goals, crafting and executing a SEO strategy that directly contributes to meeting them. The ideal candidate is proactive, results driven, a strong communicator, and keen to grow expertise within DTC. You are a problem-solver and forward-thinker who is instrumental in effectively implementing a core component of our long term business strategy.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, socialize, and champion the SEO strategy, backed by data and forecasts, for Sonos DTC globally
• Create and execute the roadmap for SEO initiatives based on opportunity analysis, SEO standard methodologies and trends, sophisticated keyword research, and continuous performance monitoring
• Lead planning, execution, and analysis of SEO programs and campaigns
• Partner with insights and analytics to develop SEO dashboards, and prepare regular updates for business stakeholders on SEO performance and impact of initiatives
• Keep up with SEO industry trends and methodologies, and work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate SEO standards during site redesigns, major and minor enhancements, new site features, and new product launches
• Educate Ecommerce, Web Development, Product Marketing and other relevant teams on SEO best practices; use lessons from individual products and markets to improve Sonos’ overall SEO knowledge and strategy
• Have a clear point of view and ability to present convincingly to leadership teams, internal partners, and vendors
• Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, timelines, and results
• Balance several initiatives efficiently and in parallel, and shift priorities as needed
What you’ll need:
Research shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.
Basic qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
• 3-5 years of relevant, hands-on SEO experience
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience driving organic search traffic for enterprise websites, including impact on lead generation and ecommerce
• Familiarity with SEO industry tools and resources
• Outstanding communication skills and strong ability to frame stories; make clear, impactful recommendations; influence and align cross-functional teams toward common goals; and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences
• Creative, results-oriented, and analytical problem solver with a passion to drive growth for the business with the ability to successfully drive complex issues rooted in data
• Comfort using data to identify and analyze areas for improvements; excellent at both quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to an always-evolving organization and search industry
• Experience working with development teams to ensure SEO best practices are properly implemented on newly developed code
• Ability to establish good interpersonal relationships with a variety of colleagues
• Problem-solver with excellent follow-through and a solutions-centric demeanor
