Determines action required, and dispatches emergency response personnel and/or aircraft if necessary. Insures the security of law enforcement investigator conducting arson, timber theft, surveillance operations, etc., who is frequently on one-man patrol in remote location. Operates a computer for the purpose of transmitting, receiving, and storing district fire reports, burning authorizations, fire readiness report, and daily weather information. Keeps up-to-the-minute knowledge of location of all crews and equipment including firefighters, patrol aircraft directly engaged in fire suppression, and law enforcement investigator activities.
Approves or denies outdoor burning authorizations by telephone using informed judgment and advises landowners of burning laws and safety precautions. Maintains burning authorization information in computer or log. Responsible for collecting information on weather conditions, crew readiness and area supervisor’s readiness levels so that supervisory personnel can make informed judgments on setting the District Readiness Level. Acts as a weather observer and reports any unusual weather occurrences to all employees. Provides information to radio, TV and newspapers on fire conditions. Coordinates assistance with state, federal and local agencies in emergency situations.
Makes landowner contacts, compiles landowner maps, and researches landowner information. Researches and has a good general knowledge of the lay of the land (landmarks, highways, major roads, landowners, rivers, lakes, major power lines, etc.).
Relays administrative communications to proper personnel. Performs routine typing on the computer.
Prepares reports for supervisor and other office staff. Handles routine correspondence for the district and personal electronic-mail (email).
Uses computer for storing, transmitting and receiving district records and reports. Responsible for maintaining files. Assists in processing purchase orders, permits and other administrative items as assigned. Assists maintenance section with records and inventory control. Updates information on all fire departments in area. Receives all telephone calls and radio messages and routes to appropriate person or agency. Assists foresters with forest management calls (seedling information, etc.). Keeps abreast of Federal Communications Commission’s rules and regulations.
Provides information to general public on Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services programs.

Specific Duties of the Position:
This is an intermediate level environmental specialist grants position. Utilizing knowledge of the Statutes and Regulations governing the Resilient Florida Program this position will:

Provides anonymous HIV prevention counseling and testing for the Pasco County area. Performs phlebotomy, as needed, in a clinical setting or in the field.
Plans and provides HIV, AIDS, and STD in-services for nurses, technicians, teachers, and paraprofessionals to include Department of Health staff. Collects information, prepares records and reports required by the program, and submits all information in a timely manner. Collaborates with the STD program as needed. Attends conferences, local and regional meetings and obtains updates as needed. Participates in HIV related events.

Research and verify existing documentation for land acquisition and land management projects.

Assists in the installation and maintenance of tide gauges for the purpose of establishing tidal datums.
Operates land and water borne vehicles.
• For Acquisition Survey Section Functions:
Uses ArcGIS software, AutoCAD software and other graphics design software to create various types of maps and drawings to support the agency’s land acquisition and land management survey programs. Logs map creation and revisions into readme word document for reference. Review and interpret legal descriptions for land acquisition and land management projects. This includes evaluation of mathematical closures, acreage computations, and evaluation and adjustments of survey data.
Prepares appraisal maps, agenda maps and other survey and map products to support the land acquisition and land management functions of the Bureau. Performs appropriate map revisions when necessary.
Researches and analyzes engineering reports, hydrographic studies, and other scientific and survey data necessary to identify sovereignty submerged lands and boundaries for acquisition and management surveys.
Reviews land acquisition and land management surveys, deeds, and title insurance commitments to ensure compliance with Bureau and Division requirements.
Research and verify existing documentation for land acquisition and land management projects.
Performs related work as assigned.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: the concepts, terminology, principles and techniques of surveying and mapping; file geodatabases; ArcGIS Online; Geoprocessing; acreage calculation in ArcGIS; Coordinate Geometry Programs to plot surveys. Skilled in: operating a personal computer; using surveying tools, equipment and/or instruments; the use of AutoCAD software for surveying; the use of ArcGIS software; organizing drawing files. Your Specific Responsibilities
This is advanced level work responsible for providing assistance, consultations and advising on various technical and administrative functions to assist the Director of Law Enforcement, and support the Statewide Investigations/Intelligence of the Environmental Crimes Unit (ECU), and the Office of Emergency Response (OER). Works independently to assist the Director with a variety of management and administrative tasks/functions which are often complex in nature. Required to complete high level tasks independently and will be assigned ongoing and complex projects. Serves as the accreditation lead for the Division. Participates in meetings and conferences, as needed. Responds to telephone calls for administrative concerns and public response, disseminates information to the public and employees regarding issues relevant to law enforcement, environmental crimes, and emergency response, to include press releases. Functions as the Division Safety Program Manager and Office Safety Committee member .
Maintains an effective professional working relationship with federal, state, local and regional entities, and department staff. Leads the coordination of All-Staff meetings. This position may be placed on-call to remain available to perform essential duties.
Serves as emergency Mission Essential Personnel in accordance with Directive 971 and, in that capacity, may be required, on short notice, to perform duties and travel in support of emergency efforts. All leave approved is subject to recall in the occurrence of a major event. Leave should be coordinated with backup/cross-trained staff and approved by management to ensure that DEP essential functions can be performed, if required.

JOB DUTIES:
Complies with all applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Conducts field audits on required documentation
• Monitors permanent parks and temporary shows for operations based on manufacturer manuals, operating documents, and SOP’s.
• Observes deficiencies and issues notice of correction or stop operation orders if applicable.
• Compiles field audit report and uploads documentation into database.
• Proposes administrative actions if applicable.
• Reviews, investigates and prepares documentation for accident reports when scheduled.
• Assists inspection specialists when conducting inspections on amusement rides when scheduled.
• Educates new companies of Florida inspection laws, rules, regulations and procedures.
• Submits travel documentation and expenses incurred for reimbursement.
• Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of techniques and equipment needed for amusement device/attraction set-up, maintenance and operation.
• Knowledge of applicable safety requirements and terminology used in the amusement device/attraction industry.
• Knowledge of basic principles of power (electrical and hydraulic), mechanical motion, structural assembly, stress and fatigue.
• Knowledge of basic principles of electrical, mechanical and structural operation and stress testing and analysis.
• Ability to lift and carry up to forty pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to frequently bend, kneel, climb, stand and walk several hours each day; ability to work on uneven terrain.
• Ability to work at heights of upwards to forty feet.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to read and understand fabrication and assembly drawings, manufacturer's equipment specifications and operation and maintenance procedures.
