This position is part of a new initiative to foster cross college and cross discipline collaboration. Qualified candidates will have established publication records, a history of grant acquisition, and evidence of successful interdisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in science and medicine. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of success in interdisciplinary curriculum development, community engagement, student mentoring, and program administration. As a joint appointment, the successful candidate will share time between Writing Studies, including instruction in the undergraduate Public and Professional Writing major/minor, and the College of Science and Mathematics, including curricular development and professional development initiatives to support faculty, staff, and students. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and have latitude to forge relationships, innovate existing strengths and capacities, and engage in projects that benefit both schools.

COLLEGE/SCHOOL AND DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONS

The Writing Studies Department is a growing department with an undergraduate major and minor in Public and Professional Writing. The department offers a range of courses that include emphases on technical, digital, medical/health, social justice, and community-based rhetorics; the department also houses the general education writing program, which serves over 3,500 students each semester. Faculty occupy tenure/tenure-track, full-time lecturer, and adjunct positions with expertise areas that include rhetoric-composition studies, creative writing, and literary study. Research interests include digital rhetorics, professional writing, community-based and social justice writing, queer and feminist research methodologies, disability rhetorics, and rhetorics of medicine and health.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is the University’s largest academic unit with over 5,000 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. THE OPPORTUNITY

Montclair State University invites applications for the position of Inaugural Dean of the College for Community Health to start July 1, 2023. This a unique and exciting opportunity for a visionary and collaborative leader to play a central role in shaping the success of the new College for Community Health. The Dean will collaborate with faculty and staff to establish the new College's identity and strategic direction. The Dean will work in and with socially, culturally, intellectually, and economically diverse communities; advocates for members of the College; has a commitment to high quality education for social justice, democratic practice, critical thinking, and innovative practice; and has engaged in national and global leadership that addresses issues of diversity, justice, and equity within and outside of the university system.

Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the lead academic and administrative officer for the College who supervises academic programs that align with the University's strategic plan. The Dean will also coordinate the activities of assistant/associate deans, department chairs, directors, and administrative staff. QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:
• Earned doctorate from an accredited university.

• An outstanding reputation and recognized leadership in higher education.
• A record of successful administrative leadership, including budget and personnel experience; or other related administrative experience
• A commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching/learning, scholarship and research, and community engagement.
• A track record of building and strengthening relationships with external agencies, local businesses, and governmental agencies for multi-sectoral partnerships
• A demonstrated record in the acquisition of external resources from government agencies, foundations, the corporate sector and/or private donors.

General Statement of Duties:

The Master of Social Work Program, within the School of Health, Natural Sciences, and Human Services, invites applicants to apply for the adjunct faculty pool for positions beginning in the 2022/2023 academic year. Westfield State's MSW Program has a single clinical concentration with an optional specialization in: Children, Youth, and Family, Health Social Work, Substance Use and Addictions, and Latinx Community Health (course content offered in Spanish). Our students often work full time, have families, and possess a variety of employment and life experiences.

The MSW Program is delivered in a hybrid format where 2/3 of the class is provided in real time and 1/3 is asynchronous. There are two tracks, one in person onground at our Westfield MA campus, and the other is fully online where the real time coursework is delivered via Zoom. Our MSW courses are fully built. Our adjuncts do not have responsibility to create syllabi or curriculum, in addition, courses with multiple sections have a course lead for support. Adjunct faculty complete a social work faculty orientation and a WebCamp from our Center for Instructional Technology to prepare for the online teaching components.

We are seeking well-qualified, highly motivated, well-organized individuals with online/onground teaching experience to teach the following courses:
• Foundation and Advanced field seminar
• Human Behavior in the Social Environment
• Social Work Practice I - V
• Research Methods
• Social Welfare Policy & Advanced Policy Analysis
• Social Work Electives

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Using innovative teaching techniques
• Completing course prep such as reviewing the course, ordering texts, and understanding the course topics and course set-up

Budget Title: Institutional Studies Assistant (SL-2)

Salary: $$50,000 - $51,000

The Degree Works Specialist will work as a key member of the Financial Aid and Student Records Office, reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Records

This position provides functional and technical expertise supporting Degree Works, Banner, and other student-related software products held within the University's portfolio. The Degree Works Specialist will collaborate with academic units and advisors in support of academic success and maximizing Degree Works system functionality. This position has the opportunity for a hybrid (on-campus/remote) work arrangement, pursuant to SUNY policy.

Responsibilities include:
• Maintain Degree Works software, working with Information Technology Services and SICAS staff to coordinate and test upgrades and patches
• Review new functionality and make recommendations to fully leverage the Degree Works software
• Provide campus training as new Degree Works functionality is introduced
• Using Scribe, oversee and complete all Degree Works curricular changes in consultation with academic offices
• Work closely with the management team of Financial Aid and Student Records maintaining federal financial aid compliance rules using the Degree Works Audit
• Implement and maintain the rules for NCAA Division I academic compliance; work closely with Athletics department to review NCAA Division I compliance rules
• Assist with the administration of Degree Works security
• Collaborate with academic advising, academic departments, and Dean's offices to assist in management, preparation, and administration of Degree Works reporting
• Maintain, enhance, and track communication stream to specific populations in support of increasing graduation rates
• Analyze Degree Works business practices and make recommendations to support the SUNY transfer initiative
• Act as a functional lead in implementing Transfer Finder, Student Outcome Tracking, and Student Educational Planners
• Act as a member of the New York State Aid working team to ensure compliance with NYS regulations
• Assist in the implementation of graduate-level degree programs in Degree Works

The Survey Research Center , part of the Social Science Research Institute within Penn State University will be hiring residents in the neighborhoods around Bartram’s Gardens to conduct door-to-door surveys this fall. The surveys will give residents a chance to share their experiences and priorities about facilities, programs, and civic engagement. Candidates need to be at least 18 years old and available to attend mandatory in-person training at a site near Bartram’s Gardens in November/December 2022.

Wages starting at $15 an hour!

Successful candidates should:
• Have customer service experience or experience working with the public
• Live near Bartram’s Gardens; be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week (mostly afternoon, evening, and weekend hours) when work is available
• Be flexible with the hours worked to accommodate respondent schedules
• Be able to travel to and within the neighborhoods surrounding Bartram’s Gardens
• Be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodations (ability to lift and carry 10 - 15 pounds of equipment and materials, walk two blocks, climb a flight of stairs while carrying equipment)
• Have regular and reliable access to cellular telephone service

Covid-19 Requirements:

As a condition of employment, you will be required to complete an initial series of COVID vaccination (2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna or 1 dose of J&J) prior to coming to campus. Initial booster doses are strongly encouraged for everyone who is eligible. New employees will be required to provide proof of vaccination to Human Resources prior to onboarding.
