OVERVIEW

The University of St. Thomas Department of Mathematics invites applications
for a Clinical Faculty position to begin September 2023. The successful
candidate will teach three introductory-level mathematics courses during the
academic year. The focus of the position is managing the MaRC (Mathematics
Resource Center College of Arts and Sciences University of St. Thomas
(stthomas.edu)) with responsibilities spanning the academic year and summer
term. Responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, and supervising student
tutors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the placement
assessment and supervise the Math placement specialist.

Clinical faculty at the University of St. Thomas are qualified in a given
field or discipline by having established records as accomplished
practitioners or by having made significant contributions to the arts,
sciences or their profession. Clinical appointments are non-tenure track
appointments that are subject to one-year renewals. Applicants must have a
B.S. or B.A in Mathematics and at minimum an M.S. or M.A. in Mathematics or
Mathematics Education or a related field. The applicants must also be able to
demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and experience in
the administration of tutoring services.

QUALIFICATIONS

As an interdisciplinary department, we seek candidates with competence in multiple elements of the Catholic intellectual tradition (such as, theology, philosophy, history, literature or art) and expect that candidates will have given serious thought to the significant ways in which their teaching contributes to the tradition. The successful candidate will have formal preparation in their discipline and will be expected to give evidence of ability to teach across disciplinary boundaries. Additionally, the successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree prior to appointment or have completed the dissertation and need only to complete the defense.
