The Role

SUSE’s Commercial Organisation is seeking to appoint a Global Head of Audit and Compliance within the commercial team to manage, optimise and deliver the global compliance and audit function to the group.

The SUSE compliance and audit team ensure that customers comply with the subscription requirements set out in their respective contracts and terms and conditions, ensuring SUSE is paid for the software and support being provided and used by customers. This is a key function within SUSE focused on optimising revenue, in particular due to the OS element of our offering.

The role reports to the VP Commercial in the UK with additional senior stakeholders in the UK, particularly the Chief Commercial Officer. The role is a people leader role with a team of approximately twelve direct reports..

About You
• Senior leader experienced in the technology sector and with compliance audit roles.
• Driving and motivating a team to achieve and deliver the set targets.
• Extensive understanding of Open Source technology and subscription based business models
• Ability to explain complex matters in clear, accessible language to customers, senior stakeholders and direct/indirect reports within the team
• Works well under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Fluent in English
• Is revenue-focused and detail orientated with a clear understanding of balance for the company and the customer alike to drive positive results
• Has a sense of humour and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across teams and jurisdictions
• Possesses well-developed prioritization skills given the likelihood of dealing with multiple projects and internal customers at any one time
• Takes initiative and be pro-active in addressing new matters or challenges
• Has good commercial and business acumen that allows the individual to effectively compare the relevant risks to the scope of commercial strategy and corporate objectives

Hybrid working based in any location globally but available to meet in the UK time zone largely. International travel will be required.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to develop criteria and tools to measure and validate compatibility of SUSE’s portfolio of Open Source products with mission critical offerings from our technology partners.

You will be working with partners and developing certification test criteria, tests, and tools to test and measure compatibility with industry-leading software and hardware partners from around the globe to ensure the highest quality and reliability.

Design, develop and support criteria, processes, programs, tests and tools which validate compatibility between SUSE products and partner products, including solutions, software, and hardware stacks.

Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, debug and troubleshoot SUSE Certification criteria, tests tools for partners and the Partner Engineering Team for certification testing
• Provide domain-specific expertise for key technologies and tests, and creation and continuous improvement of testing and certification tools.
• Drive innovation and definition of requirements and development of test tools to measure compliance, including applications, containers, servers, workstations, edge devices and components (including SmartNICs, DPU’s, ARM)
• Proactively engage with product management and support to identify common issues to resolve customer reported bugs.
• Engage with Engineering during SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE), Adaptable Linux Platform (ALP), Edge, and Rancher (Kubernetes/K3S) release schedules to align testing and partner communications
• Support partners and the Partner Engineering Team by resolving issues they encounter while supporting the certification of partner products.
• Support tools that help the Partner Engineering Team review certification submissions.

Education and Experience Required:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Typically 6-10 years experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
• Extensive experience with multiple software systems design tools and languages.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Experience in overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
• Strong knowledge of containers and Kubernetes. Podman, Docker and Helm a plus.
• Deep knowledge of Linux, BASH and open source in an enterprise environment.
• Comprehensive understanding of testing methodologies for hardware/software/solutions stacks.
• Broad experience with various hardware and software, including servers, SmartNICs, DPU’s, virtualization, silicon, edge and IoT devices.
• Experienced in all aspects of code development, including design, development, debugging and code reviews.
• Skilled in development using C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Java, J2EE, Web Services, XML, HTML and UI development. Cloud native development (GITLab, Golang, etc.) and Open Build Service knowledge a plus.
• Telco expertise, DPDK (Data Plane Dev Kit), SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) and SPDX (Software Package Data Exchange) experience a plus
• Passionate about innovation and finding solutions to challenges.
• Excellent time management and the ability to effectively prioritize workloads.
• Strong sense of responsibility and the ability to prioritize and organize workload to complete multiple, simultaneous issues and project.
