Job Description As Head of Treasury Risk, the successful candidate will lead the risk oversight and governance activities for the organization's treasury and financial risk function. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for managing the development of models and risk frameworks, identifying and monitoring potential risks, and recommending mitigation strategies. S/he should have fixed income, interest rates, and derivatives product knowledge and be steeped in asset/liability management concepts. An able communicator, the successful candidate will be able convey complex concepts success-fully to non-technical audiences, highlighting the risk and opportunity implications to the organi-zation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES o Leads the further development of the Treasury Risk function's effectiveness as a second line of defense for IRRBB, market risk, liquidity risk and other financial risk management and influences and ensures Corporate Treasury's adherence with the Risk Management Framework. As a member of the Risk leadership team, continues to embed a strong organizational risk culture. o Oversees the development of Risk Appetite statements regarding IRRBB and liquidity risk, in alignment with the Group Risk Appetite Statement, and application of, and adherence to, the risk framework policies, processes, measures and limits. o Consults on limits and controls, as well as establishes protocols for enforcing and monitoring compliance with limits and controls, and assigns routine monitoring responsi-bilities through less experienced managers. Establishes protocols for determining whether IRRBB and Liquidity Risk management process changes are significant changes for the Firm, the appropriate levels of approval for the change and how risk associated with the change will be assessed. o Serves as the approval point for processes implemented by Corporate Treasury and other appropriate first line functions regarding accepting new business, preparing and main-taining standard documents and monitoring adherence to policies and procedures. Establishes the chain of approval based on best practices and extensive industry experience. Advises on effective risk mitigation strategies and ensures implementation. o Serves on Risk Management Committees and may advise or serve as Chair for boards and other committees to ensure their effectiveness; facilitates and encourages informed and constructive debate on key issues. Develops term sheets / deal structures and provides solid guidance and contributions during the delivery and negotiation process with the client. Engineers creative solutions to client needs. Provides guidance to less experienced staff members, enabling them to show improved efficiency and effectiveness. Able to effectively manage resources to optimize process and outcomes. Primary Duties:
Lead the structuring, underwriting, and closing of credit solutions for assigned prospects and clients. Responsible for the process end to end on all but the most complex deals, including engaging with Relationship Management, clients/prospects, Credit Admin, Legal partners, and other internal / external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. Manages resources effectively and responsible for doing this at increasing scale. Manage assigned portfolio of borrowing relationships, reviewing information, evaluating risk, and engaging with clients, building relationships with appropriate stakeholders. Communicate internally to recommend and execute on responses to changing situations for clients / across the portfolio broadly. Ensures that portfolio management practices meet SVBstandards. Engaging in team development, including collaboration, and coaching of Associates who support the team. Developingand demonstrating subject matter expertise within the team including market, sector and competitive trends, business models, lending models and making the group more scalable through optimizing how we conduct business and manage theportfolio. 2021 SVB Financial Group.
