• Prior experience with boilers, chillers, air compressors, or chemical handling preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge and proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel preferred. Experience with Maximo, Tags Pro, or Compliant Pro a plus.
• Experience with DCS systems, Emmerson Ovation specifically preferred.
• A valid, current driver’s license is required.
• A City of Rochester S-3, or R-4 license preferred but not required. The successful applicant must be able to obtain at least one of these within 16 months.
• The ability to read blueprints and drawings a plus.

Work Environment/Schedule:

Utilities Mechanic – Steam Turbine

The Steam Turbine Utilities Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs of industrial mechanical equipment associated with Steam & Electric utilities generation.

Equipment Competencies for the Refrigeration Mechanic, not limited to:
• All sizes of Pumps from single stage low pressure centrifugal to multi-stage high-pressure (up to and beyond 2000PSI).
• Main Plant Multi-Stage Air Compressors (>5000scfm).
• Steam Turbines (5-1400PSI) to drive all styles of utilities generation rotating equipment.
• Gas Turbines (upto 35,000 sHP) – future
• Equipment auxiliary systems such as: Lube oil lubrication, Fuel oil, Fuel Gas, Hydrogen cooling, Hydraulic oil, Speed control & governing, Various cooling water and Storage systems.

Education and/or Experience:
• High school diploma/GED
• Applicable Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
• Demonstrated ability (minimum 48 months), working on and repairing Large Production Chillers (Centrifugal and Others).

Qualifications or Licenses depends on the role:
• OSHA 10hr certification.
• OSHA 30hr certification within 12 months.
• Must have an unencumbered valid NYS drivers’ license.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigeration License.
• Must maintain required safety operator licenses, as needed for fork truck, man lift and scissor lift (Employer Provided as required)
• Obtain and maintain NYSDOH Backflow Preventer Testers certification.
• Obtain and maintain NYSDOH Grade D certification.
• Obtain and maintain City of Rochester, Refrigeration R-4 license
