STAR work involves research on deep-tech startups, research organizations, incubators, and industry R&D leaders. The work centers around online research to identify and build profiles for such organizations. STARs will also spend time working through spreadsheets to clean and manage the associated data, often manipulating between formats for various data sources and end uses.

Depending on our workload, STARs may specialize in a particular type of research, such as identifying technology hubs, extracting contact information, categorizing companies, or identifying technology scouts. Other activities may include writing for our blog, representing seedsprint at academic-industry partnership events, as well as introducing startup and research faculty to our platform. • Prepare, review and edit documents of varying kinds, including contracts, meeting agendas, business plans and presentations
• Maintain a positive, friendly, and balanced team atmosphere

Requirements:
• High competence in PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Suite
• Experienced coder/developer with knowledge python, data science packages (e.g., numpy, pandas, scipy, etc), Geospatial / GIS packages (e.g., geopandas, rasterio, gdal, etc), Amazon S3 (boto3 for python interface), Multithreading, Geospatial raster data structures (e.g., GeoTIFF), and Javascript / Three.js
• Experience in data visualization (e.g., rendering, user interface, colors, responsive data loading, etc) and rendering tile based maps
• Poised under pressure with a good sense of humor
• Experience with small business a plus
• Interested in public health and sustainability

Career stage:

MS or PHD in engineering or computer science

MBA a plus

Minimum 3-5 years experience in a similar role

Commitment & Compensation

Full-time. Salary 80k to 110k based on experience, + equity participation tbd
