Position Summary

The IT Directory Administrator serves as the Agency’s principal technical authority on Directory Services, Directory Objects, Group Policies, Scripting and Server Administration for all enterprise systems and devices assigned to DNR. This position will provide the highest level of technical systems operational support for DNR IT and other DNR Bureaus utilizing any of the previously mentioned technologies.

Additionally, this position has operational-level responsibility for directing and controlling the delivery of services for communications technologies within the Agency; adherence to enterprise and agency architecture standards; and customer support and assistance as requested or assigned.

Salary Information

The classification of this position is IS Technical Services Consultant/Administrator, which is in schedule-range 07-32 with a starting salary of $99,840 - $108,160 annually ($48 - $52 hourly), based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Pay for state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

The DNR does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9 upon hire.

Qualifications

Minimally Qualified Candidates Will Have Each Of The Following
• Experience with Active Directory management, such as Active Directory (AD) objects, security or user permissions, groups/policies, and/or other related aspects of Active Directory.
• Experience with Windows server administration, including Windows 2012 – current.
• Experience writing scripts using PowerShell or other similar scripting language.

In addition, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
• Project leadership experience, such as analyzing program needs, gathering requirements, leading testing efforts, managing timelines, etc.
• Experience managing enterprise-level technical projects, such as VPN, file server reorganizations, etc.
• Experience with Cloud-based directory tools.

Job Responsibilities

Working under the direction of the Editor, this position will aid in the production of new volumes, both print and digital, of the Biographical Directory of the South Carolina House of Representatives and the Biographical Directory of the South Carolina Senate.

Responsibilities include research, editing, writing, and graphic design to meet established publishing goals and timelines.

This position also will work with other agency divisions and outside organizations including various libraries / archives, publishers, and distributors to ensure the production and distribution of the directories.

This is not a remote work position . All work is to be performed at the SC Department of Archives and History in Columbia, SC.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in history, public history, or a related field.
• Experience conducting historical research, copyediting, writing, and proofreading.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong vocabulary, spelling, and grammar skills.
• Competency using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Photoshop).
• Experience working with print publications.
• Experience working with specification sheets and style guides, especially the Chicago Manual of Style.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
• High level of problem solving and organizational skills.
• Must be detail oriented.
• Interest in or knowledge of South Carolina history.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in history, public history, or a related field.
• Experience in the editing and publishing of historical records.
