The UA School of Music is part of the Fine Arts Division of Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences and has a long history of excellence in performance and teaching. The School of Music offers a comprehensive music program to nearly 200 majors at the bachelors and master’s level and is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Responsibilities
Duties will include assisting the Director of Bands with all facets of a comprehensive university band program. The successful candidate will be expected to complete the following, with additional duties as assigned according to School of Music needs:
• Conduct and coordinate the UA Symphony Band (second of three concert bands)
• Co-direct the Concert Band in the spring semester (third of three concert bands)
• Direct and coordinate “Ohio’s Pride,” The University of Akron Marching Band, and Blue and Gold Brass Basketball pep-band
• Program, design, and instruct a new halftime show for each home football game
• Serve as liaison between UA School of Music and Department of Athletics
• Teach and organize Basic Conducting class for music education and performance majors
• Teach and organize Marching Band Techniques class for instrumental music education majors
• Assist with coordinating recruiting events sponsored by UA Bands and in support of UA School of Music
Date of Appointment
A 9-month salary plus an additional tenth month stipend will be offered beginning August 1, 2023.
Required Qualifications
Master of Music. Demonstrated experience as a band conductor/educator, including evidence of successful concert and marching band programming, instruction, and performance, as well as marching band drill design.
Preferred Qualifications
DMA, PhD, or ABD. Demonstrated experience as a band conductor/educator at the college/university level, including comprehensive knowledge of Pyware Drill Design software and marching band arranging experience.

Position Summary
The University of Akron, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking applicants for two full-time tenure track (TT) positions at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of Fall 2023 in emerging areas of power and controls. Research is a critical aspect of these positions and candidates will be expected to establish nationally recognized research programs and attract external competitive funding from federal, state and industry sources. The successful candidates will actively mentor and educate graduate and undergraduate students. Additional duties include updating and maintaining lecture and laboratory courses, technical currency, actively participating in the university, college, department, and program committee work, assessment/accreditation responsibilities, student recruitment, and other duties as assigned.

About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a well-established unit in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as BS and AAS degrees in EEET. There are currently 16 full-time and 6 part-time faculty members in the department. The department will be hiring 4 new faculty members starting Fall 2023.
Faculty within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently pursue research in power and energy systems, control systems, electronics, networking and communications, cybersecurity, sensors, AI and machine learning, and computational electromagnetics.
There are state of the art research and teaching laboratories and testing facilities. Center of Advanced Vehicles and Energy Systems (CAVES) hosts a DOE funded commercial dynamometer facility, prototyping and testing facilities for power electronics, sensors, electronic circuits, batteries, electric machines, renewable energy systems, power distribution and transmission network. The department hosts a high power microgrid test bed for the integration of renewable energy systems. CAVES has worked with 50+ companies over the past 10 years and attracted over $25M funding for research in the areas of power, control and sensors.

Required Qualifications
An earned Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a closely related area. Applicants must demonstrate a track record of research with publications based on prior research work and the ability to carry out nationally competitive research in emerging areas of power and controls. Research is a critical aspect of these positions and candidates will be expected to establish nationally recognized research programs and attract external competitive funding from federal, state and industry sources. About the Department
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is a well-established unit in the College of Engineering and Polymer Science. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering as well as BS and AAS degrees in EEET. There are currently 16 full-time and 6 part-time faculty members in the department. The department will be hiring 4 new faculty members starting Fall 2023.
Faculty within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering currently pursue research in power and energy systems, control systems, electronics, networking and communications, cybersecurity, sensors, AI and machine learning, and computational electromagnetics.
There are state of the art research and teaching laboratories and testing facilities. Center of Advanced Vehicles and Energy Systems (CAVES) hosts a DOE funded commercial dynamometer facility, prototyping and testing facilities for power electronics, sensors, electronic circuits, batteries, electric machines, renewable energy systems, power distribution and transmission network. The department hosts a high power microgrid test bed for the integration of renewable energy systems. CAVES has worked with 50+ companies over the past 10 years and attracted over $25M funding for research in the areas of power, control and sensors.

Teaching should show potential to reach into underserved communities, such as our local urban school systems in Akron and Northeast Ohio.
Required Qualifications
We seek to assemble a cohort of teacher-scholars who will offer a strong contribution to the diversity and excellence of The University of Akron through teaching, scholarship, service, and collaboration. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Microbiology or other related areas. Applicants should demonstrate interest in inclusive teaching practices and evidence-based pedagogy.
Preferred Qualifications
This hire would support education in our biology and pre-health majors, graduate education in the Integrated Bioscience PhD program, and potentially reach into the underserved communities in our local urban school systems in Akron and Northeast Ohio. Applicants with demonstrated teaching effectiveness and experience as the primary instructor of record are preferred.

Required Qualifications
Education: Requires 18 months of education or training beyond high school and a minimum of 4 years' experience in designated trade including supervisory and managerial duties. Ability to use various equipment/tools and knowledge of essential mechanical, electrical, and architectural trades required. Working knowledge of safety practices and applicable government regulations required. Basic budgeting, problem solving, and computer skills required.

Required Qualifications
Education: Requires 18 months of education or training beyond high school and a minimum of 4 years' experience in designated trade including supervisory and managerial duties. Ability to use various equipment/tools and knowledge of essential mechanical, electrical, and architectural trades required. Working knowledge of safety practices and applicable government regulations required. Basic budgeting, problem solving, and computer skills required.
Compensation/Grade & Benefits
This position starts at $23.00 hourly and is a grade 119.
