Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center (UCCC) Clinical Trials Office is an institutional resource within the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and UC Health that provides administrative, nursing, and data management support for cancer clinical trials conducted by UC Investigators. The Clinical Research Manager oversees the implementation of clinical trials in the Clinical Trials Office (CTO). S/he provides expert level knowledge in clinical trial practices and regulations and ensures compliance. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the UCCC CTO Administrative Director and CTO Medical Director as well as Principal Investigators to ensure safe implementation of oncology clinical trials.

Position is primarily remote work with some on-site requirements.

Essential Functions

The Clinical Research Manager has duties that include but are not limited to:
• Guide and directs a team of clinical research coordinators, clinical research assistants, and office-based coordinators assigned to the disease team(s) of oversight within the Clinical Trials Office.
• Provides support, direction and coaching to staff during the hiring process, training, disciplinary action, problem resolution, planning, and work assignment delegation.
• Provides daily management/supervision to the clinical research team to promote maximum enrollment, safe participation and exemplary conduct, and generation of accurate and complete data of the clinical research activities within the Clinical Trials Office.
• Oversees adherence and provides guidance related to all relevant internal/external SOPs, policies, and workflows, Good Clinical Practice, and FDA regulations.
• Ensures that accrual data and each subject data is entered into the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS).
• Assists CTO leadership in developing strategic planning goals and initiatives for clinical research.
• Liaises and works efficiently in collaboration with the CTO Assistant Director and with other departments at the University to ensure adequate financial accounting regarding clinical research projects, including budget development and reconciliation.
• Interacts daily with the CTO Regulatory Manager, CTO Data and Quality Assurance Manager, CTO.
• Assistant Director to ensure all protocol requirements are met.
• Works with study sponsors, IRB, and other regulatory offices as needed.
• Provide coverage as part of the research team as needed, including research participant visits and study-related data, in order to maintain compliance and/or meet deadlines.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a health-related or scientific field.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical research experience.
• Knowledge of clinical research, human subjects research ethics, and IRB procedures.
• Thorough understanding of Good Clinical Practice guidelines, Code of Federal Regulations, clinical trials monitoring, regulatory compliance. Strong qualitative skills and knowledge of study design.
• Knowledge of medical terminology as well as the policies and regulations relevant to oncology clinical trials.

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate is expected to:
• Utilize state of the art epidemiological methods which may include but is not limited to the identification of genomic and molecular biomarkers.
• Participate in graduate (PhD, MS, MPH program) and post-doctoral advising, mentoring, and teaching.
• Provide service to the Department and College of Medicine.

Minimum Requirements
• Doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related clinical or academic degree (MD, PhD, DrPH) from an accredited college or university.
• At least two (2) years of advanced training and/or professional experience in epidemiology beyond the terminal degree.
• Record of original epidemiological research.

• Track record of extramurally funded research or the potential for sustained research funding.

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology is undergoing a major expansion and is seeking faculty candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level in the broad area of cancer basic research. This recruitment is part of a significant investment made under the stewardship of Dr. John C. Byrd, newly appointed Chair of Medicine, to serve our academic mission and to achieve NCI-designation.

Topics of interest are: 1. Mechanisms regulating cancer metabolism, redox balance and the response to cellular stress and; 2. Mechanisms underlying therapeutic resistance. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record, including funding appropriate to career stage, and expertise with in vitro, ex vivo and/or in vivo experimental systems. Ideal disease focus is, but not limited to, lung, head and neck and gastrointestinal cancers.

The division has strong collaborative ties with the Department of Cancer Biology. The environment is collegial, collaborative and interdisciplinary. Our faculty currently has strengths in signal transduction, ferroptosis, lipidomics, mouse cancer modeling, autophagy, mitochondrial dynamics, cellular stress response pathways, novel cancer treatments, resistance to targeted therapy and tumor immunobiology. Disease interests span from solid tumors and leukemia.

Job OverviewThe talented students of the University of Cincinnati are enrolling in The Department of Computer Science (CS) of the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at unprecedented rates. Graduate and undergraduate students alike recognize the possibility that an education in the field will catapult them to post-graduation positions where they can change the world for the better. The department invites applicants for non-tenure track positions as a Professor Educator or Professor of Practice of Computer Science who want to guide these students in their academic growth. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2023. The positions are 9-month full-time appointments, paid over 12 months with full University faculty benefits. The appointment will be made within the Professor Educator or Professor of Practice track with salary and rank commensurate with credentials.

The Department of CS offers ABET-accredited undergraduate programs in Computer Science. Essential Functions
• Teaching six (6) undergraduate courses over two semesters related to the candidate’s area of expertise within the areas of Computer Science. This includes but is not limited to machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software engineering, computer networks, databases, data structures, introduction to computer systems, object-oriented programming, and/or introduction to programming.
• Participate in departmental service such as serving on departmental committees, advising student groups, and participating in recruitment activities.
• The Professor Educator duties are identical to those of the Professor of Practice, with the addition of duties teaching classes related to the candidate’s area of expertise within the areas of Computer Science (as noted above) at the graduate level.
Minimum Requirements

Professor of Practice minimum qualifications:
• Prior to effective date of the appointment, required to have Master’s in Computer Science or related field.

Professor Educator minimum qualifications:
• Prior to effective date of the appointment, required to have a PhD in Computer Science or related field.
