Position Summary
The Medication Safety Pharmacist sets the vision and direction of the medication safety program for the health-system. This role is responsible for providing leadership and medication safety expertise in the acute and ambulatory practice setting. The Medication Safety Pharmacist serves as an authoritative resource on medication safety for the organization and contributes to emergency preparedness planning and medication-use technology and automation design. The Pharmacist shall actively precept and oversee pharmacy residents, students, technicians, and interns. Incumbent will make presentations to pharmacy staff and other medical professionals, within, and outside of the organization and publish in medical journals. Incumbent will lecture two times per year to other medical professionals and be published at least one time every three years in a medical journal. It is expected that this leader may serve as Chair or team lead of the Medication Error Reduction Committee and other multidisciplinary hospital and health-system committees. The Medication Safety Pharmacist designs and leads medication safety education for pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, and other ancillary support teams. Maintenance of knowledge and trends is expected through continuous professional development. This position reports to the Director of Pharmacy Quality, Safety, Education, and Research.

Required Qualifications

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Dr. Brandy Lipton is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow who aspires to become an independent academic researcher in the areas of health economics, health policy, or health services research. The fellow would join the Department of Health, Society, and Behavior within the University of California, Irvine’s Program in Public Health and work closely with Dr. Lipton on a variety of projects that examine the effects of public policies on population health and well-being using quasi-experimental research methods. This is expected to be a 1-3 year appointment, contingent on performance and funding availability.
Background: The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to make substantial contributions to research examining the impacts of Medicaid pregnancy dental benefits among pregnant people and their children who were exposed to the policies while in utero. This project will combine multiple survey and administrative data sources, including the Medicaid T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF). The Postdoctoral Fellow is also expected to take advantage of the many resources available at UCI (e.g., colloquia, workshops, faculty expertise) to develop a research career. Funding for conference travel and professional development is available. The start date for this appointment is negotiable but is anticipated to be in Spring or Summer 2024. Remote work is possible and negotiable, but some in-person presence is strongly preferred.
Specific Duties:
-Conduct independent research using various survey and administrative data files, expected to include the T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF)
-Assist in compiling and analyzing state-level policies
-Participate in project meetings and regular research lab meetings
-Contribute to and lead manuscript preparation for publication in high-impact policy, economics, and medical journals
-Contribute to applications to access restricted data files
-Contribute to Institutional Review Board protocol development
-Mentor junior student team members
-Engage in professional development activities (e.g., UCI seminar attendance, conference presentations and networking opportunities)
Required Qualifications:
-Ph.D. in Economics, Health Policy, Public Policy, Public Health, or other related social, behavioral, or population science health field.
-Familiarity with quasi-experimental research methods
-Strong quantitative data analysis skills
-Fluency in Stata, SAS, or R
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
-Experience in analyzing Medicaid claims data is a strong plus
-Evidence of substantial contributions to published manuscripts
-Fluency in Stata
-Background in US Health Policy including the Medicaid program

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Dr. Brandy Lipton is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow who aspires to become an independent academic researcher in the areas of health economics, health policy, or health services research. The fellow would join the Department of Health, Society, and Behavior within the University of California, Irvine’s Program in Public Health and work closely with Dr. Lipton on a variety of projects that examine the effects of public policies on population health and well-being using quasi-experimental research methods. This is expected to be a 1-3 year appointment, contingent on performance and funding availability.
Background: The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to make substantial contributions to research examining the impacts of Medicaid pregnancy dental benefits among pregnant people and their children who were exposed to the policies while in utero. This project will combine multiple survey and administrative data sources, including the Medicaid T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF).
