system.

The University has partnered with ThermoFisher Scientific, Inc. in
a $27M expansion of the electron
microscopy core facility that is housed in the NextGen building
and provides world-class characterization resources for
interdisciplinary researchers. In addition, a strategic partnership
between Siemens Healthineers and the University will provide state
of the art instrumentation, including a 7T Terra MRI for conducting
basic and clinical research. Also housed in the NextGen building is
a class 1000 cleanroom allowing biofabrication and manufacturing
capabilities. The University of Missouri also operates a 10 MW
research reactor ( MURR ) – the most powerful on
a university campus in North America, as well as the
Cognitive Neuroscience Systems (CNS) Core Facility . The CNS
Core, established in 2020, provides state-of-art instrumentation –
including research dedicated MRI, EEG and TMS systems, and
laboratory space for conducting translational cognitive
neuroscience research. Further the Bioinformatics and Analytics
Core serves as a centralized resource for providing expert
bioinformatics, analytical, and data science consulting and
analysis solutions for all UM System campuses and their
researchers.

This position is essential to the mission of Osher with a focus on
program development and educational delivery and quality. Osher
classes are in session 24 weeks of the year, over four semesters.
The program went online in 2020 and now offers a full array of
in-person, online and hybrid courses. This coordinator position
focuses on program delivery, course development and design,
membership support and instructor/volunteer relations. The ability
to solve problems and conflicts in a variety of situations is
critical to the success of the program, impacting
participants/customers, department, and staff.

Responsibilities Include:

Work with instructors/presenters on course planning and design,
with emphasis on member engagement and high-quality programming;
help to identify and recruit new instructors; work to retain
current instructors. Assist online and hybrid instructors in best
practices.

Coordinate the implementation and delivery of semester courses,
with an eye toward high-quality programming. Assess and adjust
course design, when needed. Provide instructor assistance and
quality control both in the classroom and in virtual classes. Set
up of classrooms and monitoring of AV equipment, with assistance
from volunteers and student workers.

Assist with communication/outreach with the Osher membership,
including emails, e-newsletters, website updates and social media
outreach. Assist Osher leadership with semester registration
process; coordinate member support of registration process; collect
and collate enrollment data; distribute and collate program
evaluation data.

Greet/assist participants and their guests; oversee office
volunteers; answer main phone lines; monitor department email
account. First point of contact/representative of the program of
which resides at an off-campus location. Assist with
extracurricular and social events for members throughout the
academic year.

This position requires attention to detail and an affinity for
technology; the candidate must be people-oriented, have strong
customer service and skills and handle private information with
discretion.

Hours are varied depending on programmatic needs but occur
primarily M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evenings and
weekends.

will be based in the Office of the General Counsel in Columbia,

Missouri System consists of four academic universities located in
Columbia, Kansas City, Rolla and St. Louis, and the University
Health System. The UM System has more than 75,000 students and
24,000 employees. The Office of the General Counsel provides legal
services to all the universities, Health System, and the university
system offices.

Responsibilities for the position primarily will focus on
representing and advising the University in real estate and
transactional matters. The workload may also include matters
involving procurement, finance, investment, charitable giving,
employment, governmental, regulatory, and academic, research and/or
athletics programs. Duties will include frequently serving as the
sole attorney on routine matters; teaming with other attorneys in
the Office or monitoring outside counsel in other more complex
matters; handling transactions through all stages, including,

To perform this job successfully, individuals should have

Purpose and Scope

Responsibilities

Provide consultive services to employees regarding leave and disability benefits including eligibility requirements and process information. Coordinate the intake process with the appropriate vendor(s). Provide support to routine and non-routine inquiries. May escalate complex issues to supervisor.

Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

Provide program administration including, timekeeping, and payroll assistance for approved university leave and university program processes, ensuring attention to detail, university policy adherence, and Kronos and Time & Labor knowledge. Collaboration and partnership with other departments and areas specifically, but not limited to, Central Payroll (CAPS) and the HR Service Center. Thorough knowledge of policies, research of information, data verification, identification of discrepancies and solutions, and interaction with customers, other departments, and vendors is essential.

Role of the VP-Chief Information Officer

The VP-CIO will lead collaborations with the CIOs of the other UM system campuses to identify shared needs, develop the IT workforce, manage risks, and continually improve system-wide IT shared services.

The VP-CIO will facilitate the development of UM’s and MU’s technology direction, provide strategic guidance to the President and the Chancellors and collaborate with their leadership teams to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives. Working collaboratively with the leadership of MU Health, the VP-CIO advises and guides the health system’s partnership with Oracle-Cerner to provide secure, reliable and transformational technologies to enable patient care. The VP-CIO also oversees the work of the Missouri Research and Education network (MOREnet) and represents the University in state, national, and international IT-related initiatives and policy discussions.

Information Technology at UM and MU

UM has varied and complex technology needs that are supported through a combination of system-wide, campus and departmental IT teams. The VP-CIO coordinates the work of an IT community of 600 staff with annual operating expenditures of $104 million across UM’s four campuses. The VP-CIO directly oversees the $80 million operating budget of the DoIT organization to support the needs of the Columbia campus and operate significant system-wide shared services by leading a team of nearly 400 staff who support the MU campus and operate critical system-wide shared services including ERP, student information systems, and communication and collaboration technologies.

The Leadership Agenda

The VP-CIO will pursue an agenda for innovation and change that enables UM and MU research, academic, enrollment and student success goals. They will set strategic directions to provide robust, resilient and secure foundational technology, improve access to data, and expand capabilities to create more effective digital experiences for all constituents. Leadership recognizes the significant importance and scope of this task and is prepared to support the new VP-CIO with an initial investment to seed and accelerate the startup of the organizational and technology transformation. Key priorities include but are not limited to:
• Facilitate the development of a strategic roadmap and sponsorship of an ERP modernization roadmap to replace the current PeopleSoft solution. Partner with UM leaders to complete a roadmap to modernize the technologies and processes that support the student experience including replacing the legacy student information system. Enhance research technology infrastructure on the MU campus and expand UM’s research computing infrastructure and services to enable diverse research and scholarship with a global scope and impact. Work with MU Health IT leadership to align shared IT services with the health system’s distinct operational and security requirements. Develop an IT governance and decision-making framework to enhance service delivery for the MU campus and across the UM System. Devise a workforce strategy that forecasts required capabilities, defines career paths for IT team members and furthers professional development opportunities. Assist efforts across the institution to improve data governance and organizational capacity to use data in decision-making.

Qualifications and Areas of Accomplishment

The VP-CIO must be a strategic and highly experienced information technology leader with demonstrated success in overseeing a large-scale information technology organization which serves a complex enterprise with multiple missions and stakeholders.
