• Provide leadership for the University of Northern Colorado research compliance program. (10%)
• Oversee and guide research compliance operations and programs, which include activities involving: human subjects (IRB), live vertebrate animals (IAUCUC), class 3b and class 4 lasers, human, animal, and plant pathogens and biologically derived toxins, recombinant and synthetic nucleic acid molecules, radioactive materials and x-ray devices, Controlled Unclassified Information, Conflict of Interest, and other regulatory compliance areas that may emerge over time. (60%)
• Serve as the Research Conflict of Interest manager. (5%)
• Serve as a point of contact for regulatory matters of research compliance, and reports directly to the Director of Research and Sponsored Programs. The Director of Research Compliance (or his/her delegate) may be appointed by the Associate Vice President for Research (AVPR) to serve as voting or nonvoting member of the Institutional Review Board, the Institutional Biosafety Committee, the Radiation Safety Committee, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and/or other research compliance committees (5%)
• Provide infrastructure required for effective research compliance programs, Conflict of Interest, and management of controlled unclassified research materials that is fully integrated into a centralized research administrative structure. (5%)
• Form alliances with other academic institutions to stimulate continuous improvement in regulatory compliance activities (1%)
• Work with key stakeholders to develop and evolve URC operations to meet federal, state and local regulatory requirements while growing research at UNC. (1%)
