Brief Summary of Job Description

The Know Your Well (KYW) project seeks an Outreach Coordinator to help raise awareness about the program and engage with project partners. The position is part-time (up to 0.5 FTE) and currently grant-funded for two years. The primary work site is the University of Nebraska at Kearney, but arrangement for an alternative work location may be feasible. Some travel will be required. Position reports to UNK representative of KYW and works with a state-wide team.

KYW is a Nebraska Environmental Trust-funded project training high school students how to sample and test the quality of well water used in households. Students will analyze water samples, compare their results with tests conducted at the University of Nebraska Water Sciences Laboratory, and share findings. Over 1,000 private wells will be tested for nitrate, nitrite, metals, pesticides, and coliform bacteria. Students also will collect land use and other data to help determine vulnerability to contamination. Well owners will be supplied with test results and provided with information to help them evaluate their water quality. KYW is helping well owners and future water scientists in Nebraska know more about ground water in the state.

Job Duties

Engage with project partners (including Natural Resources Districts (NRDs), University Extension educators and outreach personnel, and program teachers) to promote participation, answer or direct questions, and follow through to ensure individual school's needs are met. Maintain database with contact lists, previous and current engagements, and plans for involvement. Some travel will be required.

Work with KYW faculty, students, and NRD staff to schedule school trainings and outreach visits.

Assist with creating and updating communication and outreach content, including for newsletters, website, and social media. Assemble and distribute promotional materials, such as for mailings and conferences.

Build and maintain relationships with information and outreach personnel and media to drive positive promotion and engagement.

Participate in regular project meetings.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field or an equivalent of 2+ years of work experience; experience creating and publishing newsletters and other print materials and digital content; and experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, or equivalent programs. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with University Extension offices, Future Farmers of America, Nebraska high schools, etc. and strong organizational skills.

Brief Summary of Job Description

The PMHNP is a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner whose primary responsibility is providing psychopharmaceutical medicine management.

Job Duties

Serves as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for the Student Health Clinic. The PMHNP will make medical and psychiatric diagnoses; conduct various physical and mental health assessments; prescribe psychopharmaceuticals and other medications; and make referrals as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Current license as an Advanced Practice (family or adult) Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska. Holds a Psychiatric-mental health Nurse Practitioner certification (PMHNP). Current National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Current DEA, or ability to obtain. 3-5 years or more of experience as an APRN. Current CPR certification. Valid driver's license. Current immunization records or ability to demonstrate immunity. Ability to diagnose and treat mental illness. Ability to interpret psychological tests. Experience in developing treatment plans and treatment utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications. Experience in Psychiatric assessments, suicidal/homicidal assessments, and ability to refer to higher level of care. Ability to prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities. Experience in the wellness of women, men's health and wellness services. Experience with evidenced based approaches and techniques, including paying close attention to research findings, theories and experience from practice.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in college student health. Experience working with the college age/young adult population. Has at least 2 years' experience in psychiatric health care. Has experience in a clinic setting (family practice, urgent care). Has experience with electronic medical records.
