Job Summary
The School of Interdisciplinary Studies & Professional Development at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor to join our active and collegial school for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track, visiting position.

The school has approximately 420 undergraduate students and administers a variety of interdisciplinary programs including majors, minors, certificates, and support programs. A successful applicant will be one who can teach one or more courses in multiple programs including:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Teaching a combination of undergraduate courses across multiple school programs as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree from an Accredited College or University is required for appointment as Instructor. A terminal degree in a discipline is required for appointment as Assistant Teaching Professor. Discipline is open. Experience teaching and advising undergraduate students at a college or university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
• Experience with online course delivery systems like Canvas.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal Degree in discipline. Experience teaching undergraduate students in both in-person and online courses. Completion of graduate-level coursework or a graduate-level program, e.g. minor or certificate, in leadership studies. Completion of graduate-level coursework and/or significant professional experience related to working with student academic and/or professional development programs. Experience mentoring undergraduate research projects. Experience with service-learning and community engagement.

Job Summary
The School of Marketing invites candidates to apply for the Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning August 2023. The position is for the Hattiesburg campus. Candidates with extensive knowledge and experience in hospitality and tourism are encouraged to apply.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• The Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor will teach four courses per semester (or equivalent) to be determined by the Director of the School. Teaching obligations will primarily support the Hospitality & Tourism Management BSBA and the Casino Resort Management and Marketing certificate program, but may also include support of related programs.
• Faculty are expected to maintain quality teaching (both online and in-person).
• Contribute to the mission of the program.
• Maintain active research and foster strong industry connections.
• In addition, the faculty member will be expected to engage in service activity (such as committee work, recruitment, and other official activities) for the School, College, and University.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in Hospitality & Tourism Management or a related field. Candidates with ABD status and nearing completion of their dissertation may be considered.

• Experience in developing and delivering face-to-face and online instruction at the undergraduate level.

The hospitality and tourism management degree program (Hospitality and Tourism Management BSBA) is for students who desire to work in the hospitality and tourism businesses. The degree program teaches management principles through business core courses coupled with hospitality and tourism management industry knowledge and skills. Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi's School of Biological, Environmental, and Earth Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Physical Geography commencing in August 2023. Research specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following fields: biogeography, climatology, dendrochronology, paleoecology, hydrology, and quantitative methods.

In addition to teaching advanced courses in their field of expertise, candidates are expected to teach introductory physical geography courses (Geography 104 - Weather and Climate and/or Geography 105 - Land and Water) and manage the associated lab sections of these courses (staffed by graduate student lab instructors). The successful candidate will be encouraged to be productive in teaching, research, and service, and help build upon existing collaborations in the School and across the University. To that end, the candidate will have access to a variety of research spaces.

The School of Biological, Environmental, and Earth Sciences offers a B.S. and M.S. in Geography, Geology, as well as a variety of other degrees in the Biological Sciences. The University of Southern Mississippi maintains an active presence in Hattiesburg and at the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, MS. The University also has a longstanding presence at NASA's Stennis Space Center, Gulf Coast Geospatial Center, and Gulf Coast Research Laboratories, all of which are located along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The School has multiple labs and workspaces for research in physical geography, geology, and GIS/RS. Faculty members maintain strong research ties to a number of academic units at the University, including Biological Science, Coastal Science, Marine Science, and Social Work. The faculty have a strong global commitment with faculty members actively maintaining research agendas and travel-study programs in the United Kingdom, Latin America, the Caribbean, as well as the American South.
