Job Summary

Job Summary

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary
The University of Southern Mississippi's School of Biological, Environmental, and Earth Sciences invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Physical Geography commencing in August 2023. Research specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following fields: biogeography, climatology, dendrochronology, paleoecology, hydrology, and quantitative methods.

In addition to teaching advanced courses in their field of expertise, candidates are expected to teach introductory physical geography courses (Geography 104 - Weather and Climate and/or Geography 105 - Land and Water) and manage the associated lab sections of these courses (staffed by graduate student lab instructors). Job Summary
The Dance Program at the nationally accredited (NASD) University
of Southern Mississippi seeks teaching-track Assistant Teaching Professor
of Dance. This is a nine-month faculty appointment and is eligible for promotion.
The successful candidate will join a creative and critically-engaged faculty
training dancers in BFA Performance and Choreography and BFA Dance Education
programs. The new hire will engage in service at the program and school-level
and teach studio technique and dance theory and practice courses for majors and
nonmajors. Instructional load for teaching-track faculty at USM is a 4/4, and
potential coursework includes jazz, tap, modern/contemporary, and/or ballet
dance techniques, dance pedagogy, dance production, improvisation, choreography
and/or composition courses, dance appreciation, repertory, and/or dance
history. Some courses include a choreography/production component. Additional
opportunities to choreograph/perform/showcase work are possible. The person in
this position may mentor dance education students. USM Dance, housed in the

The Evelyn Gandy Center for Women and Leadership
is a newly established institute with the broad overarching goal to promote
women's empowerment with a focus on intersectionality, diversity, equity, and
inclusion. Through programs related to education, advocacy, and community
engagement, the Center embraces a broad definition of leadership and the many
forms and contexts in which leadership is realized. It is interdisciplinary and
its academic arm, the Women's and Gender Studies academic program, currently offers
