Responsibilities include:

This position supervises the management of Farmington Bay and Timpie Springs Waterfowl Management Areas including other public access points to the Great Salt Lake.

Principle Duties:
• Be part of a team of wildlife and wetland professionals that implement habitat management activities on state owned properties.
• Supervise and participate in the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the assigned wetland and upland area.
• Develop, prepare, and present proposals for alternative funding.
• Supervise full-time and seasonal staff within the program including volunteer groups and contractors.
• Identify needs and develop plans such as Habitat Management Plans, work plans, water management plans, and maintenance plans.
• Work with agencies, conservation groups, and members of the public to resolve challenging land management issues.
• Provide recommendations and manage public use (both consumptive & non-consumptive)

The Ideal Candidate:
• At least 5-years of work experience in a wetland-related field and a demonstrated knowledge of Utah's wildlife and wetland programs
• A masters degree in wildlife biology, an applicable natural resource management field, or another closely related field. or directly related professional work experience.
• The ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
• A proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders to find creative and pragmatic solutions to problems, processes and socio-political conflicts.
• Previous experience managing personnel, projects, programs and budgets.

Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field. Additional preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree in a wildlife-related natural resources field or other applicable field that is beneficial for the position. Preference for years of demonstrated successful full-time work experience will vary based upon the specific position.
