Job Description

The department seeks a vibrant and innovative individual who understands digital media as an art form, in addition to its industry applications. The successful candidate should have demonstrated experience in animation and digital illustration, with additional knowledge in at least one other area, which could include (but is not limited to) web design, UX/UI design, video, motion design, or other related areas of emerging media. The candidate should be an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, eager to actively contribute to an interdisciplinary curriculum and to develop our students' artistic/professional development and growth.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a well-rounded understanding of current and emerging trends in digital media and be technologically up-to-date with industry standard software and hardware relevant to the position. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in digital animation, motion graphics, and digital illustration at all levels. The ability to teach courses in web design, UX/UI design, or AR/VR will be considered a plus. The successful candidate should be comfortable with teaching digital media to students from multiple perspectives (fine art, graphic design, game design), as well as to non-majors who are fulfilling general education requirements. Courses taught will support the art major (both studio art and graphic design majors) as well as students from related departments across campus, including Computer Gaming and Simulation and Film Studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Teach beginning to advanced courses in Animation, Digital Illustration, Motion Graphics and other related areas of digital media, which could include (but is not limited to) web design, interactive design, video, etc.;
• Mentor undergraduate students and prepare them for careers in digital media, studio art and graphic design;
• Student Advising;
• Assist the Director with managing the computer labs, equipment and supply budget;
• Monitor and ensure proper studio practice and adherence to health and safety protocols in computer labs and 2D studios (when applicable);

• Plans/develops syllabi and assignments to conform with department and university requirements;
• Maintain the course content and pedagogy relevant to contemporary approaches and academic/industry standards.
• Demonstrate commitment to student success and a healthy classroom environment.
• Demonstrate professionalism and cooperation with colleagues.

• Demonstrate excellence in teaching, showing an ability to balance the technical with conceptual development.

Job Description

The Psychophysiology Lab for Affective Neuroscience (PLAN; https://artsandsciences.utulsa.edu/psychophys/ ) in the University of Tulsa's Department of Psychology seeks candidates for a 2 full-time Research Assistant Professors (RAP) who will report to the director of the lab (Jamie Rhudy, PhD). Each position comes with salary, benefits, research space, and startup funds. Successful candidates will spend 25% of their time working on an NIH/NCCIH funded project that investigates the role of structural racism and discrimination (SRD) in the Native American chronic pain inequity. The remaining 75% of time will be spent developing their own successful line of research and stream of external funding under the umbrella of a new initiative to develop a center to combat health inequities.

The RAPs will work closely with Dr. Jamie Rhudy (PI), Co-Is (Joanna Shadlow, PhD, Travis Lowe, PhD), and other PLAN researchers. Advanced training will be provided in psychophysiological assessment of stress and pain (e.g., EEG, EMG, EKG, respiration, skin conductance), quantitative sensory testing (e.g., temporal summation, conditioned pain modulation, contact heat evoked potentials), as well as blood (HbA1c, hs-CRP, lipids) and salivary (cortisol) biomarkers of allostatic load. The RAPs have the option of being involved with all aspects of the NIH-funded study. The project is approved by the University of Tulsa, Cherokee Nation, and Indian Health Service-Oklahoma City area office IRBs. There will be ample opportunities for authorship/co-authorship on presentations and publications from PLAN projects, as well as opportunities to teach and mentor.
