Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, a record of teaching and research that emphasizes race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, social class and/or intersectionality, and the ability to teach methods courses in History and Ethnic, Gender, and Labor Studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong research agenda, teach economically and ethnically diverse students, and participate as a member of both the History and Ethnic, Gender and Labor Studies majors in the Division of Social and Historical Studies, housed in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences. They will be expected to teach U.S. history surveys and Introduction to Labor Studies courses.

The successful candidate will be expected to support diverse student populations through inclusive teaching practices and integrate effective pedagogical techniques and technologies into teaching/learning. They will also be expected to engage in institutional, professional, and community service.

At the University of Washington, Tacoma, Tenure-track faculty teach six classes per year on a nine-month (three quarters) schedule, combining lower-level introductory courses with upper-level courses in their areas of specialty. This full-time tenure track position with a 9-month service period is scheduled to begin September 2023.

The Tacoma campus of the University of Washington was founded in 1990 with an interdisciplinary approach at its foundation. It has evolved into a thriving downtown campus that serves students of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds in the South Puget Sound. The base salary range for this position will be $8,222-$8,926 per month ($74,000-$80,340 per 9-month academic year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Qualifications

This position requires an earned PhD (or foreign equivalent) in history, sociology, political science, American studies and/or related fields at the time of appointment. Candidates in the final stages of their dissertation may be appointed on an acting basis.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) is an independent research center at the University of Washington. IHME has an outstanding opportunity for a Full Stack Web Developer on the Enterprise Data Management Team. The Enterprise Data Management Team is looking for an experienced developer who possesses an in-depth knowledge of web application development to create custom internal tools. Specifically, this position will support development of tools supporting data collaboration with institutional partners. This position requires a mastery of the hands-on aspects of web interface engineering, an ability to design and build solid front-end architecture and integrate it with a database layer, and the ability to communicate these solutions to other members of the team both verbally and in written documentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Web Application Development and Maintenance:
• Contribute to the development of new web applications and extending functionality of existing data tools.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use and refactor existing code to improve maintainability, readability, testability, etc.
• Install and maintain application dependencies.
• Test code, features, business rules, and integrations.
• Automate testing by writing test code.
• Write and maintain thorough documentation of all programs and procedures.
• Assist with design for new websites and features.
• Troubleshoot and fix website, application, and server issues.
• Document and fix bugs.

Planning and Research Learning:
• Provide input to timelines to deliver both iterative milestones and completed products.
• Plan for, coordinate, and execute software deployments.
• Become familiar with the components of IHME data tools and their purpose.

General:
• Communicate clearly and effectively while contributing as a productive member of the Science & Engineering team and the Institute as a whole.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, social sciences or related field and three years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education/experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Solid grasp of technologies including PHP, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and CSS
• Experience using Unix/Linux command line and CLI tools
• Experience with source code management tools such as Git
• Experience implementing web UIs from conceptual designs
• Experience querying and manipulating data and structures in an RDBMS such as MySQL
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, including a strong team ethic

• As one of the largest recipients of rehabilitation research funding in the country, research is a key focus of our department. The position must be able to understand business, system and technical issues, and facilitate problem solving and issue resolution. In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children’s University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research and Seattle Children’s). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all of these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

In collaboration with UW Medicine IT Services (‘ITS’) and under the general guidance of the Information Security Manager, the primary focuses of the Senior Cyber Security Analyst (‘Sr. Analyst’) position are:
• providing technical leadership and expertise for:

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Associate Dean and Director of the UW Tacoma Library, the Business and User Experience Librarian coordinates user experience projects aimed at improving our student-centered services.
