The University of West Florida (UWF) Center for Cybersecurity in Pensacola, Florida, invites applications and nominations for an Assistant or Associate Professor, dependent on qualifications and experience, with a working title of Associate Director (position number 126030). The position can be tenure-track, tenured, or non-tenure earning, depending on the candidate's education, experience, and preference. The Associate Director will support the Center’s nationally recognized education, training, research, and outreach activities. This is a full-time faculty position that includes a guaranteed 1.0 FTE summer appointment (in addition to 9-month appointment) and can start June 2023 or later. Position Highlights

UWF is seeking a passionate cybersecurity faculty member with experience and contributions in cybersecurity education, workforce development, grants, and/or research. Candidates with experience in (a) developing and teaching various cybersecurity courses or programs and (b) securing grants or contracts to support education, workforce development, or research are encouraged to apply. Any of the following teaching or research interests are encouraged but not required: cybersecurity fundamentals, network security, incident response, forensics, threat intelligence and hunting, artificial intelligence and/or machine learning for cybersecurity, critical infrastructure security, industrial control systems security, cloud security, and industry certification courses.

Requirements

This position will directly support the UWF Center for Cybersecurity’s mission and activities. The successful candidate will develop and teach cybersecurity courses; submit and manage grant proposals or contracts that support education, workforce development, or research; disseminate research via scholarly publications and presentations; and provide administrative support for the Center.

A successful candidate may be hired as (1) a tenure-track assistant professor in the appropriate academic department, (2) an associate professor with tenure in the appropriate academic department, or (3) a non-tenure-track assistant/associate professor based on education, experience, and preference. Rank and tenure within the University will be determined by educational background, experience, and record.

Position Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution with a strong commitment to cybersecurity-related teaching and research.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who have some of the qualifications below are preferred.

Experience in cybersecurity teaching, training, and/or curriculum development, as evident through development and instruction of cybersecurity courses in face-to-face, online, or hybrid learning environments.

Ability to secure external grants or contracts to support education, workforce development, or research.

Administrative or management experience. Familiarity with cyber ranges and their use to enhance education and training.
