Job Title: Manager, Creative Development (Social & Visuals), Tech

Overview

As a Manager, Creative Development (Social & Visuals) you will nurture, oversee, create, and grow a social-first, digital video IP portfolio focused on English language content for the Tech brands (Wired), with ambition for global appeal. This role will be responsible for creating visual assets, including videos, graphics, and some photo illustrations and spanning across platforms, including Instragam, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other new emerging social platforms.

The purpose of this role is to build social series from the ground up, driving audience growth and engagement with a focus on commercial revenue, delivering on Condé Nast's preeminent portfolio of brands in the forms of:
• Original social content for global digital platforms (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube Shorts), with focus on premium, scalable quality
• Social coverage on our video productions
• Video franchises that transcend platforms and markets
• Video coverage and coordination of live cultural events

This role is based in Los Angeles and reports to the Director of Content Production / Supervising Producer for the Tech brands. Additional key collaborators will include brands' Programming and Development leads, Editorial Director, and Social and Audience Development team.

The Manager, Creative Development (Social & Visuals) must possess a thorough understanding of brand goals, identity, storytelling, and business objectives. They will act as key point person within the creative development team for all quick turn social and news activations and are responsible for regularly keeping all relevant editorial and business staff abreast of updates.

The candidate must possess knowledge of the entertainment industry as well as the news cycle including politics and pop culture. They should have experience working for a notable brand or entertainment publication. They should have key time management skills and a team player mindset.

Primary Responsibilities
• Align with brand editorial priorities and CNE video and audio KPIs to create social video IP across platforms
• Ideate, produce, develop, and edit content for features, breaking news, cover stories, and other articles identified as having potential to work in video format - Instagram grid videos, Stories, Reels, IGTV, TikTok, YouTube Shorts
• Serve as the production lead on all social content - repurposed and repackaged content, and original social series.
• Generate ideas for preexisting series as well as new pilots specific for short-form social platforms
• Appear as on-camera talent in social video concepts, as appropriate
• Participate in and lead brainstorming sessions
• Maintain visual best practices of series and pilots with brand stakeholders
• Launch new visual editorial standards and properties across brands working with data from the content team and creative group
• Create storyboards, moodboard, and motion graphic treatments, when appropriate, for new digital series
• Produce pilots and established series for social
• Collaborate brand editorial on the development of talent, both internal and external
• Collaborate continuously with Content Planning & Analysis, brand editorial, and Audience Development to engage existing fans and appeal to new viewers and advertisers
• Maintain awareness and provide social support to all brand initiatives - including new columns, series, podcasts, and events
• Manage pre-production and post-production process, incl, but not limited to, shoot schedules, budgets, and creative outlines
• Collaborate with all editorial teams to have their work represented on social (creative team, commerce team, etc.)
• Stay up to date on evolving features, trends, and popular social platforms

Desired Skills and Qualifications
• 5+ years experience in the digital media space as a professional and capable leader with inclusive style that garners respect and trust across stakeholders and team members
• Deep seeded knowledge of internet culture and digital video landscape (e.g. Instagram, TikTok, Snap, YouTube Shorts, et.al), the unique elements of each video platform and what makes particular videos successful on those platforms
• A finger on the pulse of social trends across platforms (especially TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube Shorts)
• Established creative sensibility with an excellent track record of producing and overseeing social content execution
• Experience creating social content from the ground up
• Proven ability to operate, balancing long-term value with near-term business goals, ability to manage heavy workload and prioritize appropriately
• Entrepreneurial, strategic and holistic mindset, eagerness to learn and build, and a reputation as an innovative, adaptable and proactive "doer" with desire to differentiate Condé Nast from the competition
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) with an emotionally intelligent communication style
• Successful experience navigating matrixed organizations
• Experience within a start-up or new line of business within a large, highly leveraged company
• Exhibit and set a culture of professionalism and results-oriented purpose
• Familiarity with the brands and businesses of Condé Nast
• Base salary range: $68,000 - $100,000
