This role in summary
In this role based in Milano HQ you will support the finance team to perform cost control activities on the Sales, General and Administrative (SG&A) perimeter. You will also play an essential role in identifying improvement opportunities and driving year over year productivity by implementing cost saving projects.
Your responsibilities will include
• Support the team in month end close and monthly forecasts
• Monitor Sales General and Administrative (SG&A) costs and help to understand the deltas vs Budget and Forecast
• Help the Finance Manager to identify improvement opportunities in order to drive profitability for the company
• Perform Cost Center and balance sheet analysis
• Support ad-hoc projects as per request
Minimum requirements

• Master’s Degree student or a fresh graduate in Economics/Finance/Business/Engineering?

The Strategy and Business Development team is responsible for the overall development, implementation and progress of strategic business targets. Identifies, evaluates and negotiates acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and joint ventures. Directs the planning and preparation of business proposals and makes recommendations to senior management.
This role in summary
The Global Corporate Strategy team is aligned with Executive Leadership at Whirlpool, and drives initiatives in four major areas: Business Development, Strategic Initiatives, Competitive Intelligence, and Strategic Planning.
Business development and M&A – Responsible for the M&A strategy, as well as assessment and execution of specific acquisition, joint venture, alliance and divestiture opportunities on a global basis.
Strategic initiatives – Lead important strategic initiatives mandated by the Board of Directors or the Executive Committee on behalf of the enterprise, including globalization of Whirlpool’s Digital Consumer Journey and direct to consumer strategies. We also partner with the global & regional business leaders to support the development of business strategies. Types of initiatives we drive include market entry strategy, growth strategy, and portfolio strategy.
Competitive strategy & intelligence – Partner with the Executive Committee to shape the competitive strategy for the company and embed it into regional plans. Assess competitor activities and performance, including being accountable for ongoing competitive monitoring.
Strategic planning – The team defines the strategic planning process for the enterprise, including long range planning, strategic planning, and strategy reviews with the Board of Directors.
Your responsibilities will include
• Business Development (M&A): Lead business case development in support of M&A and asset acquisition targets in line with our Digital Consumer Journey. Oversee M&A support team to deliver strategic input into potential mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships and divestitures to ensure maximum returns on invested capital and consistency with the overall business. Proactively assess the competitive landscape for potential deals. Oversee and continuously improve the M&A process from outreach to business case development, Board review, negotiation strategy and deal closing for acquisitions and divestitures.
• Applied Strategy: Lead the development of key strategic growth opportunities for Whirlpool and work towards “cracking the case”. Collaborating closely closely with regional business leaders to identify opportunities and supporting development of globally standardized business processes. Ultimately the Director Corporate Strategy and Business Development will deliver well-supported solutions with specific recommendations that will enable the executive management team to make critical go/no go decisions for the enterprise.
• Competitive Intelligence: Assess competitive dynamics, lead scenario planning and competitive benchmarking exercises to deliver the development of competitive strategies and competitive intelligence for the corporation.
• Quantitative Analysis: Scope and plan any and all financial and quantitative analyses that will yield critical answers to the questions at hand. Understand the required data sets to complete the analyses and procure them accordingly. Manage the delivery of timely, zero-defect analysis, and serve as a "Player/Coach" in this role.
• Critical Communication Development & Business Reporting: Communicate effectively, both verbally and on paper, at the most senior levels of the organization. Oversee the development of major presentations for senior executives. Mastery of Google Slides and Google Sheets to create impactful, concise, and defect free slide loops.
• Team Management: Guide, mentor and develop a team of high performing Sr. Managers and analyst staff. Effectively manage the day-to-day activities of cross-functional teams comprised of individuals across different brands, function groups, and geographic regions. In addition, manage relationships with 3rd party consultants, where appropriate.
Minimum requirements
• Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of post graduate (MA) experience in management consulting, investment banking, private equity firm or a combination of the above including in-house corporate strategy
Preferred skills and experiences
• Strong judgment, problem- solving and analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, is critical.
• Ability to work cross functionally at all levels of the organization with effective team management and employee development skills. Strong project management, strategic communications and/or change management skills are extremely important. Experience working and influencing across multiple business units in a global enterprise.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, including confidence and presence to engage effectively with senior executives.
• Combination of out of the box thinking and ability to question the status quo and generally accepted beliefs. Comfort with ambiguity and change.
