POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director advises students; and assists in maintaining knowledge of all programs and certification requirements, manages the recruiting process for prospective students, provides administrative support for the TCP programs and coordinates projects.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advising | 30%

• Serve as prospective and current advisor for TCP

• Advise students regarding required coursework

• Track completion of coursework throughout the year

• Provide professional and academic coaching to candidates

• Complete transcript evaluations for prospective students

• Remain current on Washington State requirements for P-12 endorsements offered by the School of Education

• Work collaboratively to ensure all licensure requirements for TCP programs are met by the end of the program

• Maintain necessary forms and documentation between TCP and school site personnel

• Review all files for TCP certification and degrees

Recruiting and Marketing | 25%

• Recruit prospective students and assist in marketing programs

• Coordinate with recruiting events on and off campus

• As appropriate, attend state and regional conferences related to admissions, recruitment, and support of adult students

• Coordinate with the Whitworth University Office of Communications, the dean of the School of Education, the dean of the School of Continuing Studies, and program directors, updating university catalog as it relates to supported programs, ensuring accuracy of published information

• Work with enrollment management office and program directors / coordinators on production of marketing campaign, including program recruiting materials, providing current and relevant market information

• Review program marketing materials for accuracy and currency

Enrollment | 20%

• Manage enrollment for supported programs

• Meet with prospective candidates to discuss application & admission to TCP and supported programs

• Attend regular admissions staff meetings

• Track application status, using SLATE protocol

• Follow up with prospects to gauge continued interest

• Review program admission applications, making recommendations to program directors and coordinators

• Ensure candidates meet program admission and institution qualifications

• Participate in program admission interviews

• Collaborate with the Financial Aid office to ensure accurate credits for FA awards

• Match courses taken with teaching endorsement requirements

• If necessary, communicate with other institutions to clarify course content

• Recommend courses to take and where to take them for endorsement deficiencies

• Work with enrollment management team to update web sites and Pirate Port with current, accurate information, promotional messages, and coordinate new content program projects

• Review and facilitate updating program webpages

• Participate in TCP meetings

• Participate on appropriate program and Whitworth committees

• Collaborate with TCP personnel on TCP policy revisions

• Create cohort course schedule and sequence

• Provide faculty support (e.g., Blackboard, textbook adoption, and scheduling of courses)

• Coordinate event planning for programs

• Participate in program event planning, including orientations, transfer events, cohort celebrations, and community college advisory events for TCP and The School of Continuing Studies

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox.

PRIMARY TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:

Teach piano lessons, piano pedagogy, oversee keyboard studies area;
oversee piano proficiency program; teach in an additional area

The Assistant or Associate Professor is a tenure-track eligible faculty member with an appointment in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) Department. Effective April 3, 2022, Whitworth University's OTD program was granted Candidacy Status for Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education and enrolled the first cohort of OTD students in the fall of 2022. OTD faculty report to the OTD Department Chair, and are a full participant in the success of the OTD Department and will be actively engaged in fulfillment of the department's mission and strategic planning. The faculty role also involves scholarship, student advising, capstone mentoring, departmental and university related committee involvement, and service activities. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in occupational therapy education. Candidates without prior experience as a full-time faculty member who exhibit a passion for occupational therapy education will be strongly considered.

PRIMARY TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES:

The faculty will teach and contribute to courses within their area of clinical expertise and or courses that address topics of occupational therapy practice (ex. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serves as prospective and current advisor for assigned programs | 25%

· Advises students regarding required coursework;

· Completes transcript evaluations for prospective students;

· Tracks completion of coursework throughout the year;

· Remains current on licensure, endorsement, and certification requirements;

· Works collaboratively to ensure all licensure, endorsement and certification requirements are met by the end of the program;

· Supports candidate in course waivers and substitutions, as well as financial aid processes.

2. Recruits graduate students and assist in marketing programs | 25%

· Coordinates with recruiting events on and off campus;

· Attends state and regional conferences related to graduate admissions & recruiting;

· Coordinates with the Whitworth University Office of Communications, the dean of the School of Education, and program directors, updating university catalog as it relates to supported programs, ensuring accuracy of published information;

· Works with enrollment management office and program directors / coordinators on production of marketing campaign, including program recruiting materials, providing current and relevant market information;

· Reviews program marketing materials for accuracy and currency.

3. Manages enrollment for supported programs | 25%

· In coordination with the GSE program assistant, meets with prospective candidates to discuss application & admission to GSE and supported programs;

· Tracks application status, using SLATE protocol;

· Follows up with prospects to gauge continued interest;

· Reviews program admission applications, making recommendations to program directors and coordinators;

· Ensures candidates meet program admission and institution qualifications;

· Participates in program admission interviews;

· Participates in scholarship award decisions with program directors.

4. Assists in administrative responsibilities and coordination of projects | 15%

· Works with enrollment management team to update web sites and Pirate Port with current, accurate information, promotional messages, and coordinate new content program projects;

· Reviews and facilitate updating program webpages;

· Manages inventory, re-ordering, and updates to program marketing collateral (SWAG), working with enrollment management office to maintain brand integrity;

· Participates in program and GSE meetings;

· Supervises Graduate Assistant tasks as needed.

· Assists program directors with creation of reports concerning the strategic enrollment programs, student recruitment and program assessment

· Collects program assessment data for annual reporting

· Manages the Gifted Institute and Gifted Education Summer Camp budgets

· Collaborates with the Student Financial Services Office to ensure proper billing of Montessori students.

5. Coordinates event planning for programs | 10%

· Participates in program event planning, including logistics for institutes and partner events;

· Coordinates logistics for professional trainings;

· Collaborates to develop and produce of the annual gifted education summer camps

· Forecasts event profitability and makes budget adjustments as needed

· Serves as a member of the program advisory councils, the graduate committees, and advisory boards as needed;

· Establishes and maintains processes and procedures for tracking event payments and registration records

· Manages the marketing, registration, billing, and event details for institutes, summer camps, and partnership events

· Ensures partnership events adhere to university policies and procedures;

· Generates contracts for event space, institute presenters, and camp staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of educational assessments and processes;

· Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze student assessment scores, offering data-driven solutions;

· Strong problem-solving skills;

· Clear organizational skills;

· Effective written and verbal communication skills to support candidates, and communicate with constituencies;

· Excellent consultation and customer service skills;

· Strong team player, with the ability to take initiative and operate independently.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Educational Administration, Counseling, etc.) or relevant professional experience

· Two (2) years of experience working in higher education, adult education program advising, or a related field; Successful experience in marketing or recruitment; experience using technology to aid in marketing and recruitment; Experience in support roles, working with clientele, coaching them toward desired outcomes (e.g., career counseling, coaching, managing, etc.).

· A commitment to fostering culture that embraces diversity and inclusion;

· Ability to collaborate with a diverse constituency of students, staff, faculty and stakeholders;

· Experience with state licensure for teachers and counselors, including state required assessments and field experiences;

· Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, developing consensus toward common goals or policies;

· Demonstrated growth in cultural competence, awareness of societal and structural inequities and proven experience in effectively establishing relationships and positive communications with students and other constituents across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to, race, gender, varying abilities, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, class or religious perspectives

· A personal commitment to the Christian faith and to the integration of faith and learning;

· A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a Christian liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian church.
