This position requires the ability to climb and work from ladders, scaffolding or hydraulic lifts. Also, the ability to work under unpleasant conditions such as dirty and dusty areas, extreme cold/heat and small or confined spaces. Moderate to heavy lifting will be required.

The Facilities Repair Worker-Advanced will be required to attend in-service and trainings and be available to respond to emergency call-ins when the need arises.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 03-12 with a starting pay of $20.34/hour. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

The Nurse Clinician 3 (NC3) is responsible for providing advanced skilled nursing care to incarcerated adults in the state correctional facilities. This position provides independent management of direct care to incarcerated adult patients residing on this unit who have unique complex health conditions which are acute, long-term and/or terminal which prevent them from residing... in the General Population.

The incumbent will provide direct and on-going care, and advanced assessments, to these patients and will provide extensive and complex cares related to activities of daily living (ADL), emotional/psychological support, wound care and other medical treatments, and medication management. Advanced job responsibilities include: patient assessment and treatment, assisting the physician in providing medical services, developing, monitoring, and coordination of treatment plans with the treatment team, management of medications, provision of emergency care, interdisciplinary plan of care development, discharge planning and documentation in the electronic medical record.

Additionally, this position will assist with staff assignment scheduling and appropriate delegation to nursing staff to meet the needs of the assigned patients or patient population. The incumbent is expected to develop and/or participate in educational programs for staff and patients about safe completion of ADL’s, chronic disease management, treatment plans, nursing and medical diagnoses, along with evaluating quality assurance of standards of care on the unit. The incumbent will serve as a consultant to uniformed and non-uniformed staff and will follow the nursing process and utilize the Correctional Nursing Standards in their practice.

Salary Information

Nurse Clinician 3 is in pay schedule and range 11-01 with base pay starting from $43.96 to $51.33/hour. There is also currently a $1.00/hour add-on for all hours in pay status.

There are currently also two temporary add-ons available: an additional $5.00 per hour worked, plus an additional $3.00 per hour worked on Saturday and Sunday. The temporary add-on(s) are approved through the date of implementation of the 2023-2025 State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. If you are offered an interview, you can confirm with the facility you are interviewing with whether these add-ons are currently available.

Employees in Nurse Clinician 3 - Weekend positions will receive an additional $10.00/hour for all hours in pay status and a $1.00/hour add-on for all hours in pay status. This classification is also eligible for the $5.00/hr temporary add-on above.

Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Candidates with no prior permanent employment with the State of Wisconsin in the past 5 years may be eligible to accept a sign-on bonus of $2,000. The sign-on bonus will be paid in two installments: $1000 on the first paycheck and $1000 with the paycheck for the pay period in which the employee attains permanent status (usually 1 year). (UW System employment isn’t disqualifying.)

To receive the bonus , a candidate must sign an agreement indicating they will remain in that position for a year . I f the candidate l eave s their position prior to completing the one year, they may be required to reimburse the initial payment.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. LTE positions do not automatically lead to permanent state employment or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employees; however, these positions do offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.

LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours per position within a twelve-month period.
