The Executive Director of Communications will be expected to:
- Design and implement strategic divisional communication plans that interweave marketing, storytelling, messaging, and engagement to celebrate the mission, goals, and accomplishments of the Division and the institution to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide leadership to the communications team, setting direction and priorities that align with the strategic directives of the CDO, and taking a collaborative approach to coaching and mentoring the team to improve effectiveness.
- Provide oversight and direction for the Division Events team, which develops manages, and executes divisional and institutional-level events in support of learning, engagement, and community building related to EDIB.
- Provide strategic support and oversight of the research, production, and publication of articles, internal messages, news releases, speeches for the CDO, social media posts, and other media content.
- Develop protocols to enhance and maintain a divisional brand strategy for all divisional communications and events, promoting awareness across communication platforms, and working in collaboration with key partners in University Relations.
- Take a collaborative approach with campus partners to raise the profile of the Division by establishing award conventions, nomination processes, and organizational protocols for the recognition of excellence in EDIB across the university.
- Provide strategic allocation of human and financial resources and supervision of unit staff. Effectively oversee, manage, and evaluate staff in accordance with university policies and procedures. In addition, foster a culture of organizational learning, professional development, and continuous quality improvement among the communication and events teams.
- Foster a strong culture of inclusivity by identifying, establishing, and cultivating collaborative relationships and partnerships with colleagues in University Communications, University Marketing, external media stakeholders, and other relevant parties.
- Take an active role in serving on campus-wide communication councils, committees, and task forces with a wide range of constituencies.
- Provide leadership of various university programs and committees, as needed, on EDIB communication issues. Collaborate with, and advise, other campus stakeholders on effective EDIB communication strategies.
- Advise and prepare the CDO on critical communication issues, interviews, special projects, and compelling storytelling to celebrate the good work of the Division and the university.
- Develop a crisis communications plan, manage the crisis communications response for the Division, and assist central campus in relevant crisis communication efforts.
- Coordinate with University Relations and other campus stakeholders in working with local, state, and federal policymakers, as well as community and corporate partners.
- Ensure that the most current technologies and effective communication platforms are utilized by Division staff

The Executive Director of Communications will provide strategic Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) leadership to the DDEEA Communications unit and will function as a central campus communications resource by serving as a convener, catalyst, consultant, and passionate community builder. Central to the position is a proven ability to engage diverse audiences and move them to action through compelling storytelling and marketing across multiple platforms, including web, social media, podcasts and events.
- Professional experience in strategic communications, marketing, public relations and/or media, preferably related to higher education.
- Knowledge and understanding of issues and communications relevant to EDIB, particularly within a large and complex organization.
- Awareness of current events, issues, and developments in higher education in general, and in large public institutions of higher education in particular, with a focus on EDIB.
- Knowledge of and experience with news media operations and protocols, from the research process through effective dissemination.
- Demonstrated savvy with exercising discretion when handling sensitive or confidential material.
- Experience working collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds, including senior campus leadership, faculty, staff, students, alumni, communications colleagues, community members, and news media.
- Ability to anticipate public events that can be used to advance institutional objectives, or that might spark a crisis, and address them accordingly.
- Expertise with organizing and managing multiple projects in fast-paced environments while balancing various priorities and a varying workload.

The Outreach Program Manager is a public facing position that includes the following duties:
- Provide guidance for research and outreach program planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Ensure that diverse audiences have good understanding of and access to relevant data sources and information
- Help to manage research and outreach activities of unit staff and support a productive relationship among unit staff and collaborators on and off campus
- Assist in identifying funding sources and budgeting for research and outreach program activities
The Outreach Program Manager will respond to requests for demographic outreach and research services from a wide variety of university and community stakeholders that can include academic researchers, UW Extension educators and administrators, state and local government officials, nonprofit and other community organizations, and the general public. The University of Wisconsin-Madison is developing the Wisconsin Environmental Mesonet (Wisconet) of weather and soil monitoring stations across the state to gather high frequency weather and soil observations for improved management of agricultural crops, forests, water, and other natural resources while supporting university research programs, improved weather and climate... monitoring, and the public. This new position reports to the Wisconet Manager and collaborates with other staff, faculty, and scientists to expand, manage, and maintain Wisconet. This position will be accountable for installing and maintaining Wisconet stations across the state of Wisconsin and ensuring network uptime and performance.
Responsibilities: Conceptualizes, designs, constructs, tests, and improves instrumentation systems used in scientific research including electronics, mechanical/thermal systems, optics, optical detectors, and computers. Uses computer design applications for modeling, analysis of design, and fabrication. Supports efforts to identify and solve problems and supports the research and development of new techniques and approaches.
• 60% Conceptualizes, specifies, designs, constructs, integrates, operates, tests, calibrates, documents, and improves instrumentation systems

The Wisconsin Union operates from several buildings on the UW-Madison campus including Memorial Union, Union South, Fluno Center, Pyle Center, University Club, Red Gym, and the Student Activity Center. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by over thirty food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $60 million dollars.

Job Summary:
The Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences (formerly the Departments of Agronomy and Horticulture) is hiring a Facilities Manager to support the research, teaching and outreach missions of our faculty, staff and students. This opening provides a great opportunity for someone skilled at working with specialized equipment such as distilled water systems, glycol chilling systems, cold rooms, growth chambers, autoclaves, ice machines, etc. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students to help them achieve their goals and creatively address evolving needs within the department. The position will serve as the Department Property Administrator (DPA) for the department, including tagging and tracking capital equipment, assisting with purchasing as needed, and disposing of property in accordance with campus policies and procedures. The Facilities Manager will work with members of the campus Facilities Management and Planning staff to facilitate maintenance and repairs within the department's various buildings where research is conducted.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the security, custodial, grounds, recycling, repairs, maintenance, and utility services of facilities to ensure that they meet the needs of the university and its employees.
• 35% Establishes priorities for scheduled mechanical and electrical services within the area of responsibility, administering preventive maintenance programs for facilities, inspecting facilities to determine repair or replacement needs, and supervising the performance of emergency and routine maintenance on campus facilities within the area of responsibility
• 5% Ensures all protection systems such as fire panels, smoke/heat detectors, sprinkler systems, and pumps are maintained in accordance with the regulatory requirements and industry standards and ensures all emergency generators/power systems, rigging systems, and elevators are properly maintained in accordance with industry standards and are operational at all times
• 5% Minimizes institutional liability regarding the university's compliance with federal regulations and regulations governing environmental protection, the handling of hazardous materials and hazardous waste, and the use of chemical substances and materials
• 30% Works with procurement services and planning, design and construction as appropriate in developing bid specifications and contract documents for contract work to be performed, obtaining, reviewing, and analyzing estimates from reputable vendors, and preparing the bid tabulation sheets and associated paperwork to support the request
• 5% Coordinates and sometimes directly supervises the performance of emergency and routine maintenance on campus facilities
• 10% Serves as the Department Property Administrator (DPA) for the Department of Plant and Agroecosystem Sciences, as well as maintaining and updating the campus COOP and OEP plans
• 5% Facilitates requests for phone line changes and activates data jacks per user request
• 5% Maintains individual lab/office space environments, including temperature, plumbing, electrical needs, etc., to suit the needs of each program.
