We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Chicago team.
As a senior software engineer, you will work across our entire product & technology stack to
help us deliver the best product to our thousands of customers worldwide. In doing so, you
will be striving for continuous improvement with the ongoing development of features to
increase the core value proposition of our product with existing customers’ helping cement
our place as a ‘best of breed’ WFM platform.
Our stack is Ruby + Rails / Javascript / PostgreSQL / AWS / Docker / React. As a senior
software engineer we expect you to have deep expertise with at least one component of the
stack. Further training and development will be provided following commencement.
As we shake off the start-up moniker and move well into scale-up territory, there are plenty
of exciting challenges that face us in the near future.
A few of the big problems we’ve tackled recently...
• Rebuilding our mobile app using a new technology and deploying to close to
200k users (while contributing to the state of the art along the way!)
• Scaling our web app to support more than 20k users in a single account, and
decreasing our timeouts by a third
• Refreshing our infrastructure; exploring database sharding & horizontal scaling,
the move to K8s
• Re-architecting our award interpretation service while still performing hundreds
of thousands of accurate calculations a day
About You
• 4+ years experience in software development with a background working for a
Product Or SaaS Company Preferred
• Deep expertise in at least one component of our stack (full-stack knowledge
although ideal, is not expected and can be taught) ; Experience using ruby on rails is required.
• You look to build and automate quality into our tech stack in the areas you know
well e.g. by helping improve tooling
• Strong interpersonal skills to complement established team cohesion and
collaboration
• Adept mentoring ability as a senior providing material feedback on the work of
developers and junior developers to establish what is needed for them to grow.

Job Summary/Basic Functions
A Workforce Education Instructor is responsible for instruction,
monitoring, and/or preparing curriculum for business/industry
classes as well as grant programs. A Workforce Education Instructor
is expected to be an expert in their field and will be assigned to
particular program areas accordingly. Classes are taught in
Richmond, Louisville, and throughout an 8-state region, so travel
may be required.

Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
